I'm probably pretty close to about 40 Air NZ flights so far this year, 99% of which would have had Koru visits and I've never had a reason to complain.

One day I will have to find out what you do for a living to do all this flying...!

He's a Geekzone moderator. With all the people complaining about the ads we run one would think we all fly Emirates First Class around the world three times a year.

Only three? I'd have thought they'd be providing you with Geekzone One by now.

Having recently flown to Europe via Japan and back via LA I'd say we don't have much to complain about. Out of the 7 or 8 lounges I tried the Air NZ regional lounges had better food than some of the international ones. ANA and United we're terrible, worse than the Queenstown Koru lounge. Certainly Koru has gone down hill in the last 5+ years but it is a far sight better than others. The star alliance lounge at LAX and the Singapore Lounge at Heathrow were very good standard.

I'm also one of the ones that has kids causing havoc in the lounge. Although most have kids areas so you can keep them in a corner occupied. I agree it's the people talking loudly on their phones that make a bigger tit of themselves. Some interesting conversations can sometimes be heard though....

This is something so many people forget. Food at an ANA domestic lounge is small packs of rice crackers, and nothing else. I'd rate virtually every NZ regional lounge (Queenstown is amazing now BTW after the upgrade) better than most UA lounges.

When I flew back from LHR a few weeks ago I visited the Lufthansa, United, Air Canada and Singapore lounges before my flight. They were all unique in their own way but I'd probably rate the United Club there as the best.

Slightly OT but I'll mention by way of amusing side notes.

At the Sofitel in LA last year I was using their public Macs to print a document. Being comfortable around Macs, I decided to explore.

Lo and behold I returned to my room to peruse a contract between a film investment group and a certain Mr Johnny Depp under which Mr Depp was due to be paid several millions of dollars in return for his assistance.

Amazing what people leave on machines in public places!

This was at terminal 1 of Narita (international) ANA and United lounges waiting for a Swiss Air flight. Well actually at Narita the United lounge was very spacious with a good view of the runway and there were about 10 people in there but the food selection was pitiful and I was hungry so I went searching for more options.

I'll have to check the United Club next time I am at LHR. I didn't even give it a second look considering the experience at Narita and also Houston last year (it was just as bad) and the check in lady recommended using the Singapore Lounge.
