oh, and with BNZ you now have 55 days to pay, used to be 44.

Every little counts... using Westpac it really feels like the bill rolls around fast.

LennonNZ: Why not just give over your AirNZ Airpoints Card (As its a Flybuys card as well) instead of your Normal  Flybuys card and the points will be automatically converted to AirNZ Points every month.

You just cannot use your Flybuys card to get points and then convert them over yourself at the end of the month.

First because the conversion rate was better - as Antonios posted. Second I already explained I liked the option of having some products to choose from on FlyBuys and if nothing then transfer to Airpoints.

Anyone got their $200 bonus airpoints on the Platinum Visa (air nz)?  I see now I have $200 in advanced, but am thinking that the $200 is separate to this, have well and truly spent enough but not there...

just discovered on a recent transaction with aliexpress and kiwibank mastercard ...

stung with TWO additional penalties for making a conversion!
- currency conversion assessment
- foreign currency taxation fee

does ANZ do that with their platinum visa? wonder if i should go with them. any other ways where ANZ is better/worse?
i know that the status point is more generous with kiwibank but I have decided i'm never going to fly enough to get gold, so not too worried there

I was wondering this too when I saw my Kiwibank Mastercard statement

Don't they all do this, maybe Kiwibank is just being more open with the charges?

I'm about to tweet them

what I mean is probably the other banks just show 1 combined cost, Kiwibank split it out

Yep that is correct. The charges add up to the same but just displayed as two line items in your statement. Not sure exactly why cause it is a little bit odd.

There are two components to a foreign transaction when it's converted. Some banks split them out, some just group them together.

It is good they are being more open but what is a "foreign currency taxation fee"?  The use of the word taxation suggests it is some sort of government thing.
