Genuinely disappointing

You are disappointed at her behavior that got her removed from cabinet or disappointed she was removed?

Disappointed that despite repeatedly dropping the ball, she’s still a Minister.
It’s a symbolic gesture.

I posted a question about this on the Turnbull thread before I discovered this one so I decided to delete it and start over.

Can anyone explain to me what is actually going on here? Did Cullen get demoted for the reason cited or was it something else? If it was for diary omissions, why is that such a big deal? Is it more nefarious? I don't quite understand how the dots join up.

The diary issue is an important integrity issue, she would have been very aware of it. I don't think she is a great loss to the portfolio.

Short version, holding secret meetings, on more than one occasion, where a conflict of interest existed.
Then lying about the meeting, removing evidence of the meeting, and misleading the house about the meetings during question time.

Apparently that is bad enough to mean she can no longer be the Minister for Transparent and Open Government, but not so bad that she loses any pay or perks...

NZ likes strong prime ministers so a sacking or two may actually help Jacinda's ratings!

Agree, bad apples are not great, when they run our country, more so

Probably. Bad honest news is better than bad fake news. They lead NZ, so near enough is not good enough.

Reading the RNZ article looks like a second instance of exactly the same thing. No action for the first instsnce, then demotion for the second instance. Losing portfolios related to the second instance, keeping portfolios related to the first, now outside cabinet.

The really bad part was misleading parliament by providing inaccuate/incorrect answers to questions about those meetings.

This open diary thing seems like a new thing. I'm curious about that. Anyone know more about it?

So, yesterday Curran was exposed in the House as having used private Email accounts for Ministerial purposes.

(Like a watered-down version of Hillary's private email server issue)

Despite Ardern's reluctance to make an example of her for previous indiscretions, I expect that a by-election in Dunedin South will be announced shortly...

EDIT: Adding Video

That performance in the house was laughable by Clare Curran. She is not up to the role of Minister and the PM needs to address that.

Gob smackingly awful. She needs help, like, removing her from her portfolios asap.

She should just resign, work hard as a back bencher, and be given another chance in about 2 years.  It's not as if she is losing her job!

Just saw a news flash that she has, in fact, resigned. Don't see how it could have gone any differently.
