100%. My opinion is the tax/subsidy in its current form is stupid. It needs refining. Using the "ute tax" is also stupid.

With supplies being super super low, let the early adopters, adopt. Why add demand when there is already excess demand over supply? When supplies are everywhere, then you can tweak the later adopters. But you need to allow for the vehicles where there is no EV equivalent. Physically or $

That's very flattering of you to say that though I think you speak with a forked tongue.

I wasn't commenting on the introduction of the RUC exemption whch I happen to think was a stupid idea as those receiving it didn't need it. The poor were subsidising the rich. I'm surprised you haven't made a bigger deal about that.

I was commenting on the Greens protesting about National admitting their folly and planning to fix their stuff up (they haven't actually used those words but that's what they've effectively said) Then by default the Greens basically saying those that cannot afford an EV should continue to subsidise those that can. The Greens don't really care what social impact their policies have.

Oh I agree with you here. No party is spotless, that is why I do not belong to any of them, and at different times have voted for most of them.

I am however of the belief that if you are going to blame a party (which ever) then you should also show how the party you support has done something to fix it.

There are a number of issues that all parties have kicked the can down the road time and time again

Mental Health
Primary health care
Hospital healthcare
Education, all all levels from primary through to tertiary
Public transport
Housing
Law and order
Welfare

Too much gets done because of ideology by all parties with them refusing to accept blame for then when they do not work in reality.

My take is:

A party needs votes, to get those votes you say this or that, irregardless of what is best for NZ

Invariably they end up in a no win situation, so its a blame game. Whoever plays the blame game the best wins, but its meaningless for NZ

Ironically you could say that one of the parties are about increasing tax. Thats good for the coffers, but it reduces the economy. Cash is oil, cash flows through the economy. Or we give big tax cuts, great. Then the Government of the day is hamstrung for cash so when a sector cries out for money, "sorry no"

End if the day, no matter what sector you are interested in, it will get kicked down the road, in favour of todays vote getting sector

So, 15 October, election over. If Labour wins (which is highly unlikely as Covid Govts have been smashed) then all good, box on, safe for 3 years.

If National wins, which it will, what they cannot achieve is blamed on the past Govt. Which is a bit rich. I blamed a past Govt in 2016 for kicking the can but I was cut down, "no you cannot say that". I am waiting for the call...

Well the current one - the one with the absolute majority - is still trying to blame National who haven't been in power since mid 2017. So I feel like the bar is pretty low on that.
