blakamin: Get him to knock back a schooner of VB and all will be forgotten!

Apparently that makes you a binge drinker.

But of course it really shows you that he's a true Aussie bloke, as I'm sure it was intended to show... To think that Abbott didn't do that for highly calculated reasons is underestimating the spin involved in politics today - especially given the kind of merde that man is in.

NZCrusader: Not sure who removed the answer from my last post, because that was it.

Summary:
- 5 mins of fame for a couple of people.
- In two weeks this will have been totally forgotten about and we will have moved on to the next controversy.

Who knows, maybe we find out Helen Clark is really a man?
Maybe the bachelor ends up single in the end.
Maybe someone we totally expect to win Xfactor, does win..

Stop the conspiracy theories. Your reply in the previous page.

Lets be clear here. This is a conspiracy.

I have provided clear facts and pointed out key details on page 9 in the last post there.

1) Just step back.
2) Calmly without emotion, just take another look at the points on page 9.

It was a well crafted attack from the Left.
Key was careless this time and it has hurt, but lets just not forget that this has been planned and as someone else has stated, the blog post was well written.

It has been designed to draw emotions from the crowds.
Wise people evaluate on fact and not a baiting  anonymous blog post, set to trigger emotion.

I wonder if she was perhaps paid some money to speak up... It seems quite a 360 to have resolved the situation privately, only to then change and take the PM by surprise.

DUDE! It is NOT a conspiracy!!!

The events HAS BEEN ACCEPTED, ADMITTED in his interview!

He has NOT argued any version of the events - which means:

- He kept on pulling her multiple times despite being told not to!!!

Remember what happen to Aaron Gilmore? Roger Sutton?

Geektastic: If this constitutes assault, the time when my wife worked in the City and a broker came up to her in a bar at a work do, grabbed her boobs and shouted "Honk honk" back in the 80's must be a hanging offence now....

Dude, not only is that assault, that's sexual assault and is not in any way OK. I'm perplexed that you are suggesting that behavior is not anything other than despicable.

In 1977, France executes people by beheading with Guillotine.

Does that mean we should still accept something similar now?

Let's have a deeper look at your little conspiracy theory here....

Spoiler alert: Every single point you make is unfounded.

NZCrusader:
Note #1
If this case goes to court, it would get thrown out.
There was never any malice or criminal intent at any time.
(From an employment lawyer friend)

You have heard one legal opinion that you agree with and that means it's game over? Especially when....

Note #2
Employment lawyer in the media just wants 5 mins in the spotlight. (Advertising is expensive these days - free opportunity is win)

Says who? Do you have any evidence of this or is it just because it doesn't align with your view? Perhaps they are just a far better lawyer with a better understanding of the case than you friend above.

You start off Note 1 saying you know a lawyer who says it will get thrown out as if they somehow by default are correct and the lawyer in the media is not. Your only basis for this is that you agree with one and not the other.

Note #3
Key ceased physical contact after complainant announced she didn't like it.

Except it didn't. If you read the article it's was made clear to Key, but both the victim and her employer that the behaviour was unwelcome. Very clear. And he still persisted. As others in this thread have commented, that alone can constitute malice or criminal intent, so your legal opinion above don't hold much weight.

Note #4
Complainant accepted Key's apology.

According to Key. The victim disputes this.

Note #5
Complainant only wants her 5 mins in the spotlight, despite the issue being resolved privately.

As above, the victim doesn't see the issue as resolved. And to this point she is still anonymous, so your '5 minutes in the spotlight' theory is dead on arrival.

Note #6
As per usual, large motivation here from the Left, which thinks it can get people to vote for them by bagging Right wing parties.
They still haven't cottoned on that people will only vote for the party, if they have good policies and a plan.

How is this any different from what the right do to slag off the left? Dirty Politics has certainly shown us that National is well capable of that. Of course politicians jump of things like this when they can, and it doesn't matter what side of politics they are on.

SumnerBoy:
It's close to assault. Not five minutes of fame.

A bit dramatic surely? Whilst not a smart thing to do, I would hardly consider this anywhere near the scale of 'assault'.

Key is well known for his 'public awkwardness', but anyone who thinks there was any kind of malice intended here is drawing a very long bow IMHO.

My take is he was probably just trying to be playful and kid around - obviously missed the mark by some way however...

What after he's done it *multiple* times on several different occasions?  And what was his wife doing? Just standing there watching him do each and every time?

He's (supposed to be) the prime minister of New Zealand FFS!

mattbush: This is political...being pushed by the Green Party and no doubt if we were able to dig deeper we would see more political motives inspired by spin doctors the political parties all employ to score points against whoever.

He's SUPPOSED to be the prime mister of New New Zealand FFS! It's disgusting trying to even excuse his behaviour as being 'just for fun' and downright political claiming it's just the Greens again.

Those aren't facts.  Just because you use bold font doesn't make them facts.

Are you sure about that? I seem to remember they stopped doing that once they ran out of royalty.

From the NZ Herald this morning

Her bosses, Hip Group owners Jackie Grant and Scott Brown, told the Herald they were disappointed Ms Bailey - who they say has "strong political points of view" - went public rather than coming to them directly with her concerns

So despite this supposedly going on for months she didn't think to raise the issue with management first?

Did the waitress fear for her job?

Should blame be proportioned to management who allowed this to happen?

Has she made a formal complaint yet?

Whilst i don't condone the accused's actions nor subscribe to victim blame, the more information that come out the more this scenario reads as a carefully timed political battle more so than a genuine case of assault or abuse
