And that bolded part only seems to apply to Labour. If you apply it to the previous 9 years then you get a raft of excuses

What does the previous government have to do with whatever bait-and-switch policies Labour made during their campaign?

I think it's pretty clear he is making the point some people apply this kind of reasoning only to opposing parties, never looking into their own when it's time.

Clear now?

I see Simon has been covering himself is glory by meeting with Teddy Locsin the Secretary of Foreign Affairs in the Philippines.

Simon said:

"A privilege to meet with "@teddyboylocsin , Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines. We discussed issues facing the Asia-Pacific and how we can strengthen the special relationship our two countries share."

Locsin has posted on Twitter " I believe that the Drug Menace is so big it needs a FINAL SOLUTION like the Nazis adopted. That I believe. NO REHAB."

Great way to set an example for the weak-minded, Simon Bridges. If you think meeting with an evil bastard like this is a 'privilege', there are plenty of characters like him who think decorating synagogues with swastikas is huge joke, yuk yuk. It is time for you  to go.

If that is who Bridges and the National Party want to get into bed with I sincerely hope that Jacinda Ardern has at least another two terms as Prime Minister

Bridges trying to defend the indefensible. Now that he has been caught out, he is trying to do damage control. Too late for that. There are standards and he has failed miserably to meet them. Time for him to go.

I have seen house flies display more common sense honesty and morals that Bridges.

Donald Trump speaking to a reporter after the neo-nazi riot in Charlottesville that resulted in the death of an innocent protester:

“… and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.

Simon Bridges tweeting about someone who impressed him in The Philippines:

“A privilege to meet with @teddyboylocsin, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.”

Some tweets by Teddy Locsin Jr.:

“I believe that the Drug Menace is so big it needs
a FINAL SOLUTION like the Nazis adopted. That I believe. NO
REHAB.”

And:

“You may find this hard to believe but
the Nazis were not all wrong, give or
take killing millions of the wrong
people. Keep an open mind.”

Bridges also met with Philippines Senator Manny Pacquiao, who has described gays as “worse than animals”.

Simon Bridges trying to cover his backside after discovering Google and learning that his new friends have some baggage:

"If you ruled out meeting with people that you had disagreements with on certain issues, there wouldn't be many governments actually you'd meet with in Asia, quite frankly."

That makes it okay, then. Let’s all whoop it up with Syria, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar and other murdering gross violators of human rights.

Is this really someone who should be Prime Minister of New Zealand? Let us hope not.

So much for democracy? Filter out the BS then decide. Unlike other countries we dont have Trumps to deal with, nor ScoMo's,nor Putins, we should be thankful. If whatever party I voted for, was not voted in, I wont have an issue with that. We dont have any scoundrels running the shop here

@tdgeek I beg to differ regarding scoundrels we have Winston Peters, Shane Jones, Simon Bridges, Judith Collins, Phil Twyford and Paula Bennett to name a few. Then there is the unprofessional members of the fourth estate and their manipulation and influencing of the election.

NZ has had that policy for decades and I agree with it.

But, don't do propaganda for other countries.

He should know how that will be reported back in the Philippines.

Don't do it for China either.. I find this hard to watch this Cringe

Don't BS for other countries.

I dont rate those people as comparable to Putin, ScoMo and Trump. Where does that leave JA if she keeps someone like Twyford in Government and with portfolios? Scoundrel by proxy? And who elects Simon Bridges, Judith Collins, Phil Twyford and Paula Bennett every election? The buck stops with all eligible voters in NZ

The two worst scoundrels Peters and Jones are list candidates. Putin, Morrison and Trump were all elected. Your point does not change my view of those mentioned.

Which is why I didnt mention them as elected as they werent. But if you feel Putin etc are the same status as Bridges etc, thats your opinion. While I also dont ;like these people, the issue is can a Govt they are in, and that applies to all parties, govern NZ effectively? Can Labour do that? Can National do that? As   swing voter thats my main priority, which exceeds personalites. Although if Bridges is leader I wont be voting National.
