corksta: So the waitress calls out the NZ Herald for using dodgy tactics to get her story, the NZ Herald responds by saying it didn't happen that way. Who knows where the truth lies on that side issue, therefore how much credence can we place on the original story?

John Key didn't denied anything during his interview.

At this stage has to assume it's all true?

freitasm: I voted for Mr Key twice. I will probably not vote for him again.

Assuming your decision is based on this story, that’s exactly the reaction the blogger was hoping for.

Not only based on this story. But based on all his actions in the last two or three years. His non-committal comments when someone points something wrong in the government, the smug attitude when talking down other politicians, and other things.

Umm, aren't you describing the majority of politicians in this world?

I'd best not tell you the story of the temp's bra that was removed and run up an office flag pole - it may cause a coronary amongst the weak constitution of today's youngsters.

It would be interesting to know if the temp looks back at that so fondly as you do, I'm glad that most people would now find it unacceptable at work.

I think it points to, and to paraphrase the title of a movie, 'A Term too Far' I think he has been PM a term too long. Maybe its time we considered taking a leaf from the USA example and limit the term of office for the PM to two terms.

The herald has acknowledged that everyone thought Glucina was working on a press release for the general media, not a story for the herald.

Given that Bailey appears to have been factual so far it appears that she is telling the truth here. Key has not refuted anything she's said.

tigercorp: This stuff gets crazier and crazier.

It'll be interesting to if the cafe owners make a statement.
Its got to be a REALLY hard position for them now, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to keep their heads down.

Their only way out now is to say nothing in my opinion. As I suspected and suggested all along, there is more to this story than was initially released.

Happy to take the Prime Minister at his word he meant no harm and has apologised. The Country needs to move on.

^ This, but it won't happen.

I think everyone involved in the story (reporters and all) will end up being embarrassed.

Lesson:
- Next time attempt to resolve issues privately.
- If that fails, go to court like everyone else.
- If that fails, then go to the media as a last resort.

networkn: I think the point being made is that if this was pursued under law, it would be considered at the very smallest end of offending. I would expect the police would opt not to prosecute and even if they did, what would the likely outcome be?

Agreed. Maybe some people here would benefit from reading (and comprehending) the Solicitor General's Prosecution Guidelines - especially section 5. She could make a complaint to police but I doubt it would go anywhere as this is a technical assault and does not proceed beyond merely transient or trifling. At the extreme worst he'd be given a pre-charge warning.

I'm grossly unqualified to form an opinion on this, and so I will refrain from doing so, but I do note that University of Auckland law professor Bill Hodge said in the Herald "Mr Key could also be investigated for common assault for "hostile touching" if police received a complaint"

We bet her ten quid she could not take off her bra in the middle of the office. She took the bet and when she proudly flourished the said article from the armhole of her shirt, one of us tossed it out of the window (4th floor) to a colleague down in the car park, who promptly ran it up the flagpole (government office).

Believe me, work was a whole lot more fun back then.

A colleague and I once convinced the receptionist, at our office Christmas fancy-dress party, that she could not see a monkey sitting at the table, despite the fact that I was in fact wearing a gorilla suit at the time. But that's not quite the same ...

I worked behind the Beehive for a very long time, that would have been inappropriate the entire time I was there and would have resulted in disciplinary action. There are many ways to
make the work place fun,  that is not one of them.

Demeter: I don't care who the hell it is; touch my hair and prepare to die.

Noted.. steps back to a slightly safer distance to ensure to possibility of accidental contact causing death.

Demeter: ..
As someone who has slightly longer than average hair and has had to deal with strangers walking up to me to touch it (why is that okay?) ...

?? What.. how or why is that a thing?

DaveB:  No wonder Bronagh keeps reasonably short hair!

Took a look at the pictures of National Party MPs, not a pony tail among them.
