Tim Murphy (co-editor of newsroom.co.nz) made the allegation on Twitter that there were leaks about this coming from governmental circles (not the Labour party specifically but the government).

Emails saying Shaw refused to sign off on the spending plan unless the Green School can only have come from one place.

I have my suspicions about what is going on but at this point it's safe to assume whoever is advising James Shaw doesn't have his best interests at heart.

I didn't think too much of it, though I see a lot of anger over it. Having said that, it's quite a mess Shaw made of this, especially with the revelation he refused to sign off the spending plan without funding for that school. People seem to think quite highly of him, but I think he is pretty weak. His handling of the Turei situation. He didn't handle the stats thing well either. The problem is, who else in the Green party would be even remotely tolerable as leader? He's at least mildly centrist. I suspect there is more to come of this. I feel we need the Greens in Parliament, I think they help keep a focus on the environment, though lately, it feels their "green" agenda has very little to do with that.

I suppose its a case of Greens will have to work harder to sell their policies to the Green favoring swing voter.
The policy and people will need to be a bit stronger to make up for ammunition others have to throw at them.
Have to do a great sales job on their total value.

ACT had their issues in similar vein but no lasting effect it seems.
The Northland Charter School cost 5.2Million, I think the owners ended up keeping it all and the farmlet they bought.

HoDeHo those Yellowcoats :-)

I suppose there is nowhere where one can see the MBIE review of the business plan ?

Ex HRV Sales supremo hmmm , might be a tough negotiation on terms by which school owner will accept contractual change.
