Clearly you don't understand Samoa's electoral system or you are referring to electorate boundaries. Lose one or a number of critical electorates in an FPP electorate only system (regardless of the number of voters in each) and you lose the election, that is how, and it happened. Changes to electorate boundaries have been contentious in Samoa.

Anyway the ruling party in Samoa for 20 or more years, they were happy to roll the dice as it was.
So they should accept this.

Problem when people think they have god given right to be leader for life, and such.

Perhaps there is a greater reason that the past ruling party does not want other eyes looking at the books ?

Most of those on the list occured over 100 years ago and did not replace a functioning democracy or anul elections.

GZT, Dictators, well my humor is perhaps a bit dry, mostly they are their own self evident tragic sick joke.
A dash of exasperation that many are so open to destruction of democratic structures these days.

Its not just the 'ex' Samoa Prime minister, but every one of the leaders in that party need to have a strong look at themselves.
What the heck are they doing standing behind this, do they expect to get a lovely bio on how they served their people ?
Where we you when your country most needed you.

They might have an objection to a clause in the constitution to assure women at least 10% of seats.
Well the place to address that is in selecting more women candidates yourself for your party.
Did you shoot yourselves in the foot in the first place a self inflicted loss ?

You can also work in opposition to move forward any reforms to the seat boundaries, and even propose proportional representation.
Build electoral support, and next election you can test your support.

Rotation of power, and threat that this can happen is actually a good in itself, those that love it to much for its own value, well....

Even China's CCP, 6.5% who have absolute power over China.
Scarred by results of the final years of Mao, cultural revolution, gang of four etc, then set limited terms for future leaders.
Well until now, sadly a return to the atrophy of leader for life.

A big shout out to Samoa for the way they have handled their constitutional crisis. No violence, no assaults on the capitol, no pitched street battles between the two sides in spite of the utter intransigence of the loser, who has used every device imaginable to cling on to power and still insists that he is ordained by god to rule, though he has grudgingly accepted the reality that he has to make way for the winning party.
