Republicans are losing their minds over this deal. I'm sure quite a lot of high level Trump supporters privately hate his guts, but it's so satisfying to see so many of them now feeling free to publicly call him a loser.

Trumps life of deals that led to multitude of bankruptcies repeated in another capitulation.

The entire war strategy was essentially led by Netanyahu saying just a few missiles to kill the supreme leader and a few other guys and then it will be all finished. Trump eventually agreed and followed. None of it was ever sensible. Netanyahu planned to strong arm Trump to continue the thing regardless.

The idiots that want to continue the whole thing are ten times worse. Trump's planned withdrawal and planned removal of sanctions is long overdue. Iranian women more or less won the right in practice to wear their hair all without Trump's help. Other civil rights may well follow in the wake of long overdue economic development with the ending of sanctions.

Coincidently the end of long standing sanctions preventing Iran from selling it's oil on the world market at the market price will have the side effect of virtually eliminating the flow of cheap oil to the grey market - the change will benefit America indirectly in a number of ways.

Apropos to this discussion, out of Trump’s infinite weakness, I'll highlight three:

1) listening to YouTube and TikTok influencers

2) misreading symbolism of gaudy, tacky gold rooms. He missed "the Sun King", Louis XIV, monument to ego and absolutism

3) not asking any grade‑school historian for advice

Trump should be listening to the fact that signing things in Versailles has a bad track record.

Versailles is the cradle of the French Revolution, the site of France’s humiliation by Prussia, the symbol of monarchical collapse

In a nutshell Versailles is the stage for failed reforms and doomed diplomacy.

See the Treaty of Versailles (1919) was signed in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. It forced Germany to accept full responsibility for World War I.

Obviously no one in Trump's cabinet read John Maynard Keynes’ The Economic Consequences of the Peace. It foreshadowed the harsh reparations imposed on Germany would destabilize Europe, cripple economic recovery, and plant the seeds for future conflict.

And the earlier 1871 Treaty of Versailles and Proclamation of the German Empire (1871), where Germany humiliates France.

The 1756 “Diplomatic Revolution” agreements, where France’s new alliance with Austria turned into a strategic disaster. The war ended with France losing most of its overseas empire.

The 1787 Assembly of Notables where Louis XVI, who built different tacky gold rooms, gathered nobles at Versailles to approve tax reforms. They refused and the last‑ditch attempt to save the monarchy held at Versailles directly helped doom it.

The Estates‑General of 1789, where Versailles was literally the birthplace of the French Revolution.

Same year the Women’s March on Versailles where women stormed Versailles demanding bread where the Royal family forced to leave Versailles.

Also, one I personally find funny, the 1783 Treaty of Versailles ended hostilities between France, Spain, and Britain after the American Revolution.

This somewhat rings a bell for Trump’s signing with Iran

France spent enormous sums helping the American colonies. The financial strain contributed to France’s bankruptcy, which helped trigger the French Revolution six years later.

Iran. Not the best country around by any stretch. I believe (and comment if I am incorrect) they have not proactively started wars in recent times. I believe from MSM that many Gulf nations had a detente relationship with Iran, as in we dont agree, but we are neighbours, lets get on

If I look at other rogue states, I see Russia attacking Ukraine, and its schools, kindergartens, hospitals, retirement apartments and residential apartments. I see Netanyahu doing the same in Gaza and Lebanon. I see UKR attacking Moscow, so thats supposedly horrific so Putin says he will retaliate. Pot calling the kettle black. 4 Israeli soldiers were killed today or yesterday during an Israeli attack in Lebanon and Hezbollah responded. Thats also horrific so Israel say they will level Lebanon, again, pot calling the kettle black.

While Iran has a rogue leadership, IMO they aren't proactively attacking other states. Yes I know what they have attacked in recent weeks, but thats reactive. No. I am not an Iran fan. US has a rogue leadership, they attacked Iran last year, and joined with Israel to attack in recent times.

Now, we have an MOU where its clear that the US and Iran prefer to move on. Israeli however prefers to attack and attack. It may well be that if the MOU works to a greater degree, they can join the region and the international community as a no threat country, trade, and re develop. Which "hopefully" will mean with a growing prosperity, that the citizens will be better off and the regime may wind back some of their rogue behaviours, as in last years horrific protest outcomes.

Its all there. Apart from Trumps inept statements, and Netanyahu's actions. One would hope that in this years Israel elections, he is out.

No need for Israel and Iran to agree, just get along in a peaceful coexistence.

Then there is Gaza, a war crime.

This needs to be handled carefully as it seems quite clear that Iran and the US have the will

US should accept that the MOU clause for the Lebanon ceasefire isnt in place, but they are not complicit, they are working on it

Iran should not have posted that it has closed the Strait, they should have warned that they will close the Strait if the Lebanon ceasefire continues to fail

Hezbollah say they are only returning fire, thats credible. Iran should instruct Hezbollah to stand down despite Israeli fire. The causes the Lebanon issue to not be a he said she said issue, but to point the finger squarely at Israel. That can cause global condemnation against Israel.

What happens if Netanyahu ignores Trump?? Unsure.

neither directly explains the specific Israel - Lebanon ceasefire dispute TDGeek was discussing. They're just background context.
