I couldn't care less how she got to the hospital. I have an issue with her publicising it to promote an agenda.
You mean like encouraging people by example to be more active and drive less? How shocking!

JPNZ:
A person being judged on her actions, how ironic
No, a person being judged because some can't handle any criticism of their SUV lifestyles.

Eva888: As someone who has experienced childbirth I think it was stupid and dangerous. No thought for the safety of the unborn. What if she fell, or got hit by some speeding scooter, car etc or if a sudden pain made it impossible to go further and birth began. The baby doesn’t have a safety helmet and is ill protected by a few layers of taught skin and fat should it be hit by another bike or car.
Baby undergoes a lot of stress and hormonal changes just before the birth, so any exertion of the mother could be dangerous to it. In the event of an accident or side of the road birth, did she calculate how many police and ambulance would need to race to the scene.
As a mother your job is to protect your unborn in every way possible not endanger it for the sake of a political or other media boost.
Yes, that was my only criticism. Child Safety.
But Rikki does make sound points, as most of the banter has been essentially, its a Greenie, lets whine about it.

I agree the criticism is probably valid but it is a completely separate point. Until now no-one was complaining about the safety aspect. They were all complaining about a Green female politician using the birth of her child to promote an environmental agenda. How dare she!

Thats what I was saying. I think one other mentioned safety about the time I did days ago, but yes.

Sure, however, the fact remains that the single biggest thing (according to many scientists) you can do to reduce your footprint is reduce our numbers of humans, and the total increase to the planet of adding a human vs riding to a hospital (instead of taking a bus, uber or driving) to deliver a baby is huge. She chose to make it a public event, and so she (and you apparently) need to come to terms with the fact that has risks that not everyone will agree with your actions. You are particularly going to face scrutiny if you are a senior MP of a party who's primary focus is supposedly preventing climate change.
It is sort of like riding your bike to work, as the CEO of an Oil company. :)
Being the supporter of something, shouldn't prevent you from seeing the irony she created in her situation. It was probably not the best judgement call from her.
Having said that, I am glad she and her new baby are both safe. I wish them well.
