I just think New Zealand deserves better than someone in a clown car honking a novelty horn.

So are we all allowed to make such inflammatory insulting comments about leaders of the parties we don't support willy nilly now?

What leaders do you think I am referring to? In any case, my allusion is to a behaviour, not an individual.

Show me an example where someone has referred to the PM or senior member of the current Government in such a manner in these forums?

The term stardust has been referred to many times, including today

While others have criticised Luxon's many about faces, instead of stooping to name calling

There is robust discussion, and there is the other

If you think those two insults are comparable, I am not sure what to say. It's pretty similar to when people felt it was fine to get stuck into Max Key, but could you imagine what would happen if the exact reverse happened?

When Ardern about faces, she is 'listening to the people', and 'taking feedback' and 'being a good leader' (at least according to some).

All the name-calling and attacking of families needs to stop.

I am not sure what to say? That's your line, as usual.

Perhaps Ive missed Luxon being called names. All Ive seen is his being criticised for frequent about faces, what specific names was he called?

Satire and caricature are legitimate tools of political debate. Name jokes, attacks on physical appearance and personal qualities are not (and yes, I know I have compared Luxon to Humpty Dumpty). Women are something of a special case because of an unfortunate history of misogynistic attacks, but I have no problem with lampooning the Prime Minister, especially when it is deserved. I think you are being blinded by your outrage here.

Ah ok I wasnt aware of that specific name call, which I assume Mr N was referring to. Oddly, based on your post, the PM has been subject to name calls like stardust and others the whole journey. Here and elsewhere, often here.

Sorry I was actually responding to @networkn. Your post slipped in. I don't think he was responding to that, I was just acknowledging that I have also done it.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/matthew-hooton-christopher-luxon-is-the-best-nationals-got-but-hes-no-john-key/4FY4WHCL77XHRWQN5PGYXAEVJ4/ (paywalled)

Matthew Hooton looks at how Luxon is no John Key even though he was touted as being one. I wasn't a huge fan of John Key myself, but I have to say I think he was better than Luxon.

Wasn't Bill English the one who used the phrase 'star-dust' to describe the PM's 2017 campaign promises which were definitely real, doable and how dare you suggest they might not be?

Not questioning how many use it today but I think at this point it's firmly embedded in the political lexicon, along with 'pretty legal' and the three-way handshake.

Any disrespect, intentional or not, shown for politicians in this thread and others in the Political forum pale into insignificance compared to this:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/128492412/faeces-left-on-mps-car-so-bad-its-funny

Pretty tragic in my view, and props to Ingrid Leary for her (public) reaction.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

She seems to have reacted well enough to it, but pretty disturbing act for someone to do
