It left seems quite content to be rude and personal quite a bit. It started with Kelvin Davis and hasn't really let up since.
Cut out the partisan BS. You know better.

gzt: There was a similar incident from Peters several months back. Seems to be a regular thing
I picked up a TryFord from Bridges. I will let him off that due to the Paula Benefit he also did a wee while back! :-)

I thought these speeches may have been online? NZ Herald doest seem to have them?
https://www.parliament.nz/en/watch-parliament/ondemand
Weird that they've given up on the YouTube channel?
Thanks. I found Simons on a Herald article, that lead To Winnie, and JA. Watched them all, tea now

Private conversation. Quite sure you have said things in what you believe are private conversations you would not have wanted made public. I know I have.
If you don't think Ms Ardern or Mr Peters haven't said as much or similar, then I think you live in a fairy tale world. The only difference is, there isn't a tape of it leaked (yet).
There is a difference between this, and mocking someones speech impediment or speech patterns (or in fact that they look like a kicked puppy, a phrase I am sure you are aware of) something they may or may not have control over.
Add this to the fact that National didn't make a huge song and dance about being "nice" "honest" and "transparent". The coalition just don't seem able to keep any of their election promises...
I watched the three speeches, plus a bonus of Judith Collins. Here are my opinions.
Simon B
Loud and brash. Good idea, he is on the way out, look at the polls, he needs to be stronger, so he was, and louder. Annoyingly so, as he has to create this fake strength. He is a considered person, not like that, so it looked good, but failed. He seemed to go for low detail and high volume of criticism with no reasoning. Just hammer out the bad stuff. Id like to know why growth is 0.6% yet JA quoted 3%, and expectation of 2% this year. Someone is wrong
Winston
Not impressive, just bagging, a bit like Simon just not as good
JA
I thought it was a good speech, plenty of detail, and frequent numbers and comments that were opposite Simons, someone is wrong. Lots of detail, and plans. Good speech. I dislike her speaking, but tonight it was very good
What I took from this, and I also imagined if I just arrived here, knew nothing, and watched them. After Simon I'd be thinking, he is powerful, lots to say, but no detail, but the other side is falling apart. JA had lots of detail, lots of numbers, lots of plans. And unlike the other Govt that did nothing, wants to lead, not govern. Thats exactly why I bailed last election. A stark contrast to the commentary here where JA had no election detail (correct) Now its the opposite
Judith C
Waiting for her time, that is so clear.
So, I checked growth, both are correct almost. Simon said 0.6% I think, it was 1% last quarter. JA said 3%, it was 2,7% for the year, this was to June 2018.I can find 2.5% to 19 Dec 2018. Simon his playing the numbers game badly
Key facts
Economic activity, as measured by gross domestic product (GDP), was up 1.0 percent in the June 2018 quarter. This rise follows a 0.5 percent increase in the March 2018 quarter.
GDP grew 2.7 percent over the year ended June 2018.
gzt: Frankly I think if they are going to pass a law against people smoking in cars with kids they should be setting a better example than laughing along with this.
I dont follow. As was posted earlier, lots of hot air, both sides were laughing, although National got called to order a couple of times. Laughing at the opponents speech, I dont see how that has to do with the seriousness of paying a non smoking law?
Question time you will see more laughing, and points of order, thats a farce.
I should have taken notes, there was a lot to respond to. I can and might re watch and note the BS. SB bagged the Greens, spent most of it on Kermadec. He lacked numbers, so it seemed a quality not quality tack he took. Unsure why he bagged re the teachers and health, thats were the 9 years of issues come form. JA listed out 8 or 10 examples go institutions that are being upgraded. Kiwibuild fell flat too, his numbers are correct, but pity they sold state houses while Labour built 1000. I also recall JC saying (not here) they might keep Kiwibuild. They will keep it, for obvious reasons.
So, detail, numbers and plans, vs no detail, just an angry voice. Times have changed. Sorry, and screeds of policies from National all of a sudden (like last minute election campaign) yet no funds.

Ah the Choina thing. Yes, I agree, thats not great. But having heard Simons speech first, he was pretty darn belittling. Seems to be a trend with "some" National people, although it doesnt work. But while Simon was on and on bagging others, and getting some things wrong, WP is WP, not much more to say. But as I said, we all know what these speeches and question time is like, its tit for tat, hot air. JA, as JK would have been rose above that. WP wont change his spots. Be intesryting to see how long Simin B can keep up the new look, its a but fake for my liking. He is a considered, measured person, being loud and brash doesnt work.

Right. Here is some more for you to peruse. In the interests of fairness, I have not edited anything out. There is a good selection of insults on both sides. The point I was and am making, is that both sides do it, but the way you present it makes it look like a predominately 'left' failing, which it is not. That is why I call partisan BS on you.

You are bringing stuff from that far back? Heh, ok then. Labour campaigned on Nice, Honest and transparent *this* term. They have been rarely, if ever, been any of those things. Kelvin Davis should have been sacked or strongly denounced and demoted for his comments, yet JA said nothing about it, tacitally sanctioning it by extension. That shows her true character in my view. As I even type this, I know it's just a waste of time even discussing it. If it makes you feel better, believe what you like.
