Key was also on the TV this morning.  His solution to housing prices was supply.  He gave the example of ChCh where a decrease in population and increased supply of new housing drove down prices.

I agree with Key that it's pointless to bemoan Ardern's popularity.  Obsession with celebrity is a symptom of modern society.  Ardern's celebrity is at least somewhat earned.  She certainly knows how to leverage a crisis.

And JK's was earned as well. He can get any with ponytail-gate as he was respected. I agree the solution is supply but Labour didn't, National didnt. Someone needs to

Sorry, didn't mean to imply Key's popularity wasn't earned.  I meant at least as in at a minimum.

Mike

Looks like Simon Bridges is starting his campaign for leader. Collins publically slapped him down on morning report. I guess he figures this is his chance before Luxon starts his campaign. It should be fairly entertaining.

She did not sound happy this morning!

And now Bridges (and Goldsmith) have been kicked out of the debating chamber...

Edit: I should have written 'stormed out', rather then 'kicked out', but either way it's still more childish antics from someone whose behaviour continues to prove his lack of leadership chops...

Bridges knows how to generate attention. Unfortunately for him he generally looks like a dick when he goes on his stunts. It's effective for the law and order "lock them up and throw away the key" base. The fact the approach doesn't work is irrelevant I guess.

Not working now, but might in 2 years or more likely 5.

A mass shooting and a pandemic have put National back 1 election cycle than normal but when it finally all fits into place it might be a bigger movement than a lot think it will be.

Once it goes back to normal politics, house prices, food prices, power, rates, fuel, etc rather than a pandemic or shooting then GLOAT will be seen as just a PR person.

Well GOAT means Greatest of All Time, so my guess would be Greatest Lady referring to the PM lol, but I could be wrong.

I doubt the assumption made - a gradual decline in policy is no match for the swooning and cocaine like high people get from seeing strong moral leadership. Slight exaggeration lol.

But National has a massive problem, and its called the female voter. I doubt going back to a weak looking already rolled leader is going to fix that, especially when it doesn't address the trust connection JA has made with said voter.

Not worth discussing Collins... anyone who thinks she's anything but a temp is living in a parallel universe.

That would be a breach of the FUG, funny names for politicians aren't acceptable. @freitasm may care to comment.

Nationals problem is that it's incompetent and more concerned with infighting. Until that changes the rest is fluff.

Yes, I'd rather not have funny names for anyone @jas777

Oh you mean this?

John Key actually told the National Party members when he spoke to them to to "stop leaking, or leave the party".

National don't get it. That this report hasn't been followed by board level resignation is pretty much the problem.

Yeah leakers leave lol. But don't address some valid concerns leakers raised and the dissatisfaction within the party... just put up a wall of dissent-crushing silence, promoting an atmosphere of fear that the public definitely won't see as front. All fixed.
