I have adopted out my twin sons at a time when I was in a bad place. I have a lot of contact with them and have done from day one. Just because I choose a better life for my son's doesnt mean I shouldnt have a say in who gets to give them that life.

alasta: I am astounded that noone has yet acknowledged that the natural parents of the child being adopted may have preferences for the environment that the child should be brought up in. Surely that counts for something.

In regards to homosexuality in general, I totally support the 1980s homosexual law reform as I strongly believe that consenting adults should be free to do as they wish, but I do get tired of hearing people moaning about the outcomes of their own lifestyle choices.

Hoooolly crap.

When did you choose to be straight, btw? I'm just curious.

Sorry Alasta, but I have to agrre with the others here. That way of thinking is way out of date and science has pretty much proven that people are born gay.

geekiegeek: hetrosexual couples are able to concieve children - law of nature.

It is not possible for homosexuals to concieve children - law of nature.

Some people are born homosexual - law of nature.

I dont see how I am condrodicting myself here? I also dont think you can use IVF etc as proof that we make exceptions as these are still only used with hetroseual couples - i.e. this does not go against the laws of nature stated above.

But IVF is unnatural. So we shouldn't be letting straight infertile couples use that.
Using drugs and CPR on people who've stopped breathing or are "clinically dead" is unnatural too. No one should be resusitated if they drown or stop breathing, since that's unnatural. They should be dead, who are we to play god?

Thats like saying "I gave my laptop away on craigslist because I dont use it very much, doesnt mean i shouldnt get a say as what ISP its used on." You know how discriminatory that is? "oh no you two are gay you are definitely not getting my twins"

kyhwana2: First you say:
geekiegeek: Homosexualtiy is not unnatural and is not a problem as far as I am concerned.

And then you say:

so to reiterate my personal view. I feel that society should not change this natural law just because we can and some would like it changed.

Hrrrr?

In a free country people do not have to justify their beliefs.

Wow! Nice cop out there.
Why should I not break into your house and steal your stuff? After all you have more stuff than me and I feel I should be able to take it. I shouldn't have to justify why I believe that.

I am talking about freedom of opinion.

As I have said a number of times I am not someone you need to convince.

I just think it is counter productive to demand people justify their opinions when they are not the same as yours.

Pardon? I am gay and I am perfectly capable of conceiving a child! I agree I cannot do it with my partner but that does not make me incapable of conceiving. Being gay doesn't make me infertile.

Teeps, come on :-) I think you know what I mean. I didnt think I had to spell it out to the letter.

Also agreed that IVF could be seen as unnatual.

Because you believe sex and procreation should only be between a man and a woman and onty they should have the right to bring up a child.

Do you ever have sex for pleasure or do you only ever have sex to procreate? Surely it should only be to make babies under your reasoning

Teeps: Did you choose your hair colour? Being gay isn't a lifestyle choice it is how I am, it is part of me just as the colour of your hair is part of you.

Homosexuality is a behaviour, not a physical attribute. I would have considered it to be tantamount to someone's choice of whether to drink, go to church, etc.

I'm not saying it's a harmful behaviour, but the suggestion that people are not responsible for their own lifestyle choices has dangerous implications in my view.

Dude thats pretty harsh when you dont know my situation. Just because someone puts a child up for adoption soesnt mean they dont want the child it may just be that them keeping the child is not in that child best interests. Or should the person just keep it and make a mess of the lives?

We would be equal in that area because there wouldn't be adoption available for straight couples either

I think it's perfectly legitimate to ask people to justify their beliefs when they seem irrational or illogical.

My favourite here is religion of which is a sore point for me (and probably every other gay person). You saying I shouldn't ask someone to justify why I shouldn't have the same rights as them because they think their invisible sky friend tells them that i'm evil and don't deserve those rights?
Of course i'm fully justified in asking!
