I had a qantas visa card, which ANZ will be dropping on 1/7/23 and I changed over to Amex. I did some research first and on the amex website said google wallet is supported

 

but obviously my research wasnt thorough enough, sadly not supported in NZ (only supported in Aust)

 

 

 

sadly have to carry extra card around, at least paywave works

It's strange. Amex was first to launch Apple Pay in AU then just never bought it out here. Amex contactless has different (read: worse) acceptance in practise vs just using the chip or swiping

The Google Wallet NZ page does not list American Express: New Zealand: Supported payment methods - Google Wallet Help

 

I changed phones last week and tried - again - to load my Amex to Google Wallet, with no success.

yes, unfortunately I found the google wallet page after I couldnt get the wallet to work
