mattwnz: ASB should have been more helpful. I find ASB online support pretty poor, infact still waiting for a reply to my bankmail 3 days later.

Why should ASB be responsible for knowing what format an overseas company expects an account number to be formatted in?

Because its their job to know how their own account should be formatted.
If ASB don't know how to format an ASB account, who will?

It's a standard New Zealand banking account format (2-digit bank ID, 4 digit branch ID, 7-digit body, 3-digit suffix), not ASB-specific. It's not their fault some overseas company expects a US account format.

Not a "standard" NZ bank account. All my BNZ accounts have 2-digit suffix, not 3-digit as you state for example.
