That must be USD - xe.net reports 1 XBT is $1504NZD (as at 5.34pm today).

Crazy that at the start of Nov is was around $200NZD......

Given the rate at which bitcoins are being snapped up for $kiwi on bitnz, there are a lot of folks in in godzone who want to get their hands on some BTC.

the tech behind bitcoin is really interesting, there is great application besides currency

this interview with IBM architect Richard Brown is a good discussion of what the protocol is and what it enables

so if you believe this technology has promise, well now is a good time to invest imo. to me it seems not dissimilar to investing in a tech stock, except the company is not owned by a person or small group of people, but by millions of users across the world. its a little bit like being able to invest in the internet itself in its early days
