We have very wide eaves, but from mid afternoon sun comes in french doors and a big window. Shading the windows would require a huge shade cloth or similar, which is impractical given the wind levels.

Open to ideas though, it would save a bunch of power and make the house more comfortable.

Yeah agreed.

We are having a large blind put in on the balcony range slider area and to the side and there is one in front of the TV already. One Bedroom doesnt get much sun. bUt the real problem is these sky lights. I can easily block them with block out cloth and valcro, but they are useful. I might test this any way and see if I can just undo one corner as all I need to do is push up for the skylight to open, its seals are really good. The one in one of the bedrooms is the main issue as its the only window but it gets HOT in that room.

So I went out today to test the 1 hour on before required theory, fantastic. The far bedroom which is 3 rooms down a hall way from the machine was mank humid at 80% and 24 degrees, it felt much worse than that. So turned on the air con, came home an hour later, looked at the Temp. 20 degrees, the humidity is 46%, close enough to 50 for me. Humans have a range but so does mould and book lice etc. 50-60% is a good range for everybody, but sunshine clearly is good for mould. It really reduces the amount of cleaning required of Ally window frames etc. Of and that was WITHOUT the dehumidifier mode on the aircon. So it definitely drops the humidity.

Thank you everyone, have taken all the tips on and now have the unit ready to be set optimally when the temps get above 25 which is starting to occur.
