I do bitcoins aswell and loving my returns. Currently using 2 HD5970. Next week going to buy a quadfire HD5850

. Just started when prices increased to $2 (April).

Anybody want to buy bitcoins from me? (Mtgox USD and then USD to NZD)

(I hate the difficulty!!!, I hope prices increase when difficulty increases too.)

Ive just joined to bitcoin game, bought a ATI HD5850 yesterday, currently making 1 BTC per ~12 in a shared pool. At the current BTC to USD, it pays for itself in power + little extra (still have to work it out properly), and is a nice heater in my room :)
Am looking at buying a few more HD5850 as they are relatively cheap per Mhash/s ($280 and get around 330Mhash/s)

Are you using the BitCoin software from www.weusecoins.com? If so, it will be calculating using your cpu, which is a hell of a lot slower than most GPUs.

Yeah 4 gpus (bought already the MSI 890-FXA to support it

and a 1200w cooler master power supply (80 plus gold)).

This bitcoin is sooo addicting.

I highly recommend you don't use your CPU. With New Zealand expensive electricity bill you won't make a return, but just loses. (Unless you're getting free electricity it's a win)

My GPUs do 1.5 Ghash/s. Today's difficulty and exchange rate its make around NZD$60-64 per day, minus $3.45 for electricity.

Wow man, thats something I would love.
Hopefully, when I sell my car subs (dont use em, dont even know why I bought them, I'm a geek - not a car enthusiast!) I'll buy another HD5850, bringing me 1BTC every 4 hours; 6 per day (average).

How much is that beast? (the Quadfire HD5850) Just to clarfy, that is 4 HD5850 on one mobo right? Not 1, with 4 chips on a single pcb?

You are using you CPU for that then?
At that rate, according to http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/old_calculator.php it would take you around 35280 days to get a block of 50 BTC. Not worth the 96 year wait I think :)

that is disappointing, especially with the rapture this weekend. On the plus side its jumped up to 1300 khash for some reason. Should knock it down to a few decades. Its just a cpu in an old machine that I fired up to have a look at this bitcoin thing. If people are making 60 - 70 bucks a day thats about 25k a year...is that right? Are some people really making that?

I used to mine solo early last month making like 350BTC average a week. (Just keeping it as reserves and exchanging when I need to pay my electricity bills)

Right now am with deepbit.net. So far all pools are giving me the same "weekly" return.

gjm: my old pc is currently doing 344khash... maybe I should just give up. I have no bitcoins :-(

I think its better to stop. Because with that rate it might take you like 18-24 minutes just to make a single share, presuming you're in a pool.

As with anything like this, there's always that risk, always people with better hardware, willing to take more risks.

As I look at it, if I get another 2 or 3 HD5850's, if I make the money back, sweet, if I don't, I've got one hell of a gaming computer :P

Last week I exchanged 200 BTC for USD$8 and got NZD$2000 (why am building a second rig). So yeah "maybe" you can make 25k a year or more if this trend current trend continues, prices follows difficulty

True, that's why I don't buy cheap CPU and ram, like most miners do. I plan to build gaming machines in mind incase this market crashes and sell it as a gaming machine.
