Well that depends on how far back in history.  Immediately crisis? no.  But BNZ needed a bailout in 1990 for example.

The difference between the OCR and Deposit rates is not the profit margin. The gross profit margin is the difference between deposit rates and lending rates. The nett profit is the gross profit minus all over heads.

Average BNZ deposit rate is currently about 4.4% the average Mortgage rate is around 5.8%.  




Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
