Leather Lounge Suite and another plus vote on the Lasik Eye Surgery we bought for my now ex-wife. Cost about the same as the previously quoted amount and she has never had any issues with her sight since.

$10 on the Geekzone Freeview Pizza nights....netted a Freeview HD Recorder and a HP Mini from them as well as had a great time meeting folks from here so no complaints what so ever.

Griffsta: I agree SSD my SSD caused me nothing but problems. Back using conventional HDD's they seem to last longer and more reliable in the long run.

VPN, brought a VPN a few months ago for privacy reasons only to find out that most of them are crap with speed they say they don't limit the speeds but they do.
Tried that brand Astrill good amount of servers to select from but my own connection was more faster then the VPN even with the local servers which the ISP i'm
with is peered with. Used it for about a month then never again. I also heard that the NSA has hacked most of the levels of encryption so if they wanted to get in
they could easy.

So, you do regret spending money on the VPN and the SSD? Might be worth re-reading the topic :)

SSD's for all my machines.

Quality. I nearly always regret not spending the extra on something that will last.
My first battery drill was a Bosch green 9.6v (big money for me then). I absolutely abused that little drill and it did about 10 years of mostly trade use. I let smoke out of it more times than is possible to count (first time was driving a 32mm auger through 200mm of wet wood). It was a sad day when that drill died.

- Huge Monitor

All of these. Actually, I don't really recall ever spending any large amount and regretting it. Of course, somethings (LASIK!) are far higher up the "damn I'm glad I did that" list than others.

Next 'present:' Star Trek, The Original Series. (Re-engineered Blu Ray release, be interesting to see how they 're-engineered' a 1960's TV show up to Blu Ray quality)

Most computer parts I've ever bought & paying the bills. These days just paying the bills is feeling like more and more of an extravagance, but I do love living in a house, having food to eat, etc.

The list of things I regret not spending money on when I could have includes education, podiatry work, nutritional advice and a gym membership, better dental care; basically just actually looking after myself and setting myself up for a good future. Now that the cost of living has gone up and my wages have gone down I'm pretty much stuck here, at least without a lot of hard work/risk I'm not prepared for.

Oh, $2.40 on lotto each week. Never win anything, but at this point it's worth a shot.

Hmmm... Although I imagine this was supposed to be geared towards techie stuff I would say:

Travel
Wedding

That's not to say I regret spending money on technical things but when it boils down to comparisons it is pretty easy for me. Would I have travel over an iPhone? Yes. Would I have travel over a new watch? Yes.... etc... For travel and our wedding there is nothing I can think of that I would replace them with.

My rainwater tanks. Waterbill is down heaps, and I don't get annoyed anymore when it rains. It is like having money falling out of the sky.
