portunus: A fairly recent development is you can now pay these fines via internet banking which avoids the credit card surcharge. Paid my last fine this way with no problems.

You mean Internet Banking, not Poli right?

(I can't believe Poli is still in business, still screen scraping online banking websites)

If you actually opted into it with your bank, yes.  Otherwise... wut.

I don't remember being given a choice to opt in our it wasn't made clear. I thought I had to be part of it. Maybe my bank doesn't givea choice but yes it's not phantom.

nate:
nickb800: AFAIK credit card online payments for fines is a recent development.

It's not.  I've been donating part of my salary for many years now to our fine boys in blue.  As longs as I can remember there's been a CC surcharge.

Sorry, brain fart, I meant NZTA stuff instead of fines

Ah no worries.  I am somewhat of a frequent flyer with the Police, pity they don't have an air points (not demerits) system... ;)

gundar: Everybodies whinning about banks fees and the government. The Police's ecommerce project is not a retail outlet, they have no competition. Their clients are literally breaking the law to be there, plastic in hand...

And how many laws does the average New Zealander break per day?

You and me both!
