So, leaving both systems running overnight, looks like roughly 0.005XPM/hr via ypool and 0.001XPM/hr via beeeeer.org. Given CPU usage is roughly split, if I left jmprimeminer running by itself, I'd expect ~0.01XPM/hr, or roughly 1XPM for 4 days computation. Given the current value of PrimeCoins, I doubt that's offsetting the power usage, but will leave it going for a while out of interest. I might see what "free" cloud computing I can scrounge. *cough* Azure *cough*.

I may have to experiment with compilation optimisations on the primecoin client, seems like an awfully big disparity.

(With a bit of system tweaking, jmprimeminer is currently running at ~53,000PPS)

My little harem of miners is giving me .0432 xpm/h. I woke up to 1.25 coins this morning. I'm relatively sure I'll be able to retire sometime next week if I keep this up.

Well, if the power cost is a problem, you have to go to the cloud and if that happens, you can't GPU mine, that I know of. I have a spare VGA card floating around, I'll see if I can get it working during the break and post the results.

So far, it seems there is universal agreement that at $5/VPS, an army of single cores seems to be the way to go, certainly, my 8 core physical machine isn't going to pay for itself.

I'm glad you noticed that beeeeer seems to be the better option. I'm under the impression ypool has only one pool -maybe there's too many peeps in there?

My observation with the stock exchange is trading slows considerably this time of year, so don't be disheartened by any slow down or low value over the break.

From what I can see so far, existing GPU miners are only of a similar efficiency to CPU mining, so unless your GPU is significantly more powerful than your CPU, it's probably not worth it. Plus GPU's tend to use a lot more power, so may even be worse.

Progress on them seems to be fairly stagnant.

There actually seems to be some kind of sweet spot between lots of nodes doing a little bit or fewer nodes doing more. Will have a bit of a play over the next week or so and see if I can find it

Tried the solo client, it EATS bandwidth. My home VDSL is just sitting on ~3.5MB/sec shuffling blocks back & forth.

Seems faster though, around 0.001 coins every 10 minutes, looks like it's spending more time waiting for data than it is processing though as the CPU is nowhere near 100%

The Windows client from primecoins.org is about as simple as it gets from the look. Would need to work out what to do with resulting coins in the Linux one, need to investigate how to transfer them from the wallet into the online account.

(Aaaand I've just lost connectivity so it's going to be sitting at ~3.5MB/sec until I get home, not going to do my data allocation any good, bleh.)

I second this. I originally though that times were geting more competitive, but it seems that there is a point at which more nodes does not return more credits.

I too will test this by sharing my nodes between the available pools.

You can do this by modifying the primecoin.conf file and I suppose if you really want to, assiging some nodes to ypool, which uses a different client to the post, but the install process is detailed above.

I'll get some time this weekend and over the shutdown period to look at this (once the kids are asleep).

There is a way to setup RPC services and have all your nodes hammer that solo client. If you're keen, I'd like to know what sort of output you get?

I have 4 P4 3.2's and 1 Core2Duo running and ive also purchased one of the VPSNine servers to see how that goes.. the core 2 duo is doing quite well at 793 primes! the VPS Nine server is ticking over at 354 atm.

Under Windows I'm using the 4.0f2 beta version. Haven't tried the AVX variant, whatever that may be.

Have left both jhprimeminer versions running as well as the original. Will do some comparisons tomorrow and see what's what.

So far it looks like a semi-technical hobby that may actually pay for itself while you learn something about all the workings.

I'm having a lot of fun, at least.

this my plan:
I'll setup a mining Rig on my spare laptop first.
After that I want to build a little working team 4 or 5 Droplets at DigitalOcean
Possibly another 5 at VPSNine

In this thread : member Gim is using an Intel Xeon E5 2407 Server to mine XPM
apparently with good results, I am wandering if getting a physical server could be profitable

I will not start building the VPS because i'm afraid of loosing 25usd?? (yes, I do have to ask me this question )
$5 for each droplet

So apparently i have 0.81 XPM is there some kind of threshold till it appears in my btc-e wallet? also whats the benefit of sending it there rather than my own personal wallet?

I've read somewhere that the pool will send you XPM coins when you reach 3.01 XPM
