floydbloke: Do transactions show up immediately on the App?

I've recently got one of these cards too and currently running it in parallel with BNZ Gold, while there are no fees.

BNZ recently introduced this feature on their web interface. With Westpac I'm still having to wait a couple of days before transactions show up (although the balance seems to update in real-time).

I think this is a brilliant feature of the BNZ app, and I must say I'd love it if the other banks would introduce real-time transaction reporting on their apps and/or websites. (Do any others already provide this? I know Kiwibank and ANZ don't).

We put everything we can on the credit card, and also track all spending on a spreadsheet, and it can be really frustrating trying to get things to balance given it can take up to five days (or even longer sometimes) for some transactions to show up. The worst period is over the weekend as no transactions are added from overnight Friday until overnight Monday. Sure, balances are amended immediately, but often that's not enough to work out some spending.

I've worked at both Westpac, and ASB. ASB is the only one of ANZ, BNZ, Westpac and ASB to process the transactions in real time. It is because ASB's back end system stems from the old Trustbank real time system. So maybe TSB processes in real time too?

I much prefer ASB's customer service to Westpac's. The Westpac people are nice but the bank policies are too bureaucratic to foster great customer service. However I prefer Westpac's website to ASB's. Payees are assigned to your customer ID, making it much easier to modify existing APs. Whereas with ASB to change an AP you need to delete it and replace with another one. Westpac also offer payline splits, and case sensitive passwords.

Back when I workedinbanking, 2007-2013, in customer satifaction surveys of the big banks, ASB was always #1, then NBNZ#2, BNZ & Westpac would tustle over 3rd and 4th, and ANZ last place. I had heard that Kiwibank rated higher than ASB.

Umm, as I mentioned BNZ do real-time credit card transactions, so it appears the banks that do provide this are ASB and BNZ.

I'm with both ASB and Kiwibank. Kiwibank's commitment to online technology is pathetic. They're website is outdated, the app is ho hum and their "heaps" app is a complete pile of junk with known bugs they can't be bothered fixing.

The only reason I'm with Kiwibank is they offered the best rates when it came to fixing the mortgage at the time. ASB are light years ahead of Kiwibank in online/app technology.

MikeAqua: Auckland Savings Bank Bank, I am just about to close my last account with due to poor (slow unhelpful/apathetic) in branch service and also tautology in their name.

Like DC Comics, it's madness, MADNESS!

+1 for ASB. I find the Bank Bank bit funny.

I have had the odd problem with them over the years - only at branches funnily enough - but overall whether by phone or using their web/mobile apps I think they are pretty darn good.

That's funny to hear. I'm also with ASB and Kiwibank, having switched to Kiwibank for my everyday banking about 5 years ago, and I have the exact opposite opinion. Other than the login screen, Fastnet Classic hasn't changed significantly in 10+ years and I think it's extremely outdated from a design perspective. Kiwibank's also hasn't changed a lot since I joined, but their design has been more intuitive and attractive for all of that time. To take the bill payment screen as an example, Kiwibank's is contained in a single screen rather than spread out over 3+ like ASB's, and is just generally easier to use.

Don't even get me started on ASB charging you $2.00 to save a payee - that's actually what prompted me to switch away from them in the first place. I hope they've stopped that total BS practice.

I haven't used ASB's mobile app and would rate Kiwibank's as adequate, not outstanding, so am willing to concede the point there.
