Oh the irony of banks forcing EMV security measures on us as consumers and forcing retailers to upgrade terminals to accept EMV cards, all while "exluding" themselves from complying and still maintaining and installing ATM's that only use the mag stripe rather than the chip!

I can confirm that it is not possible to use your OneSmart card by swiping the magnetic strip at a retailer. The Chip and PIN feature on the card is for your own security and will be required to make any transactions within New Zealand or overseas.
