joker97: hmm in that case i don't even need to activate the darn thing! correct?
Correct, you only need to activate to use the MasterCard Debit/foreign currency wallets/buy airpoints features, it will work as a FlyBuys card straight out of the envelope.
Or you could just throw it away and continue to use your existing card instead which has exactly the same number on it, is less confusing and has it's own magnetic strip
My card arrived 30th January. I doubt I will bother registering and activating it. When I joined AirNZ airpoints last year I received a card and letter saying, "here is your replacement card" and couldn't do anything with it. Apparently, something screwed up and an original card with welcome pack was never sent out, so they sent a replacement and assumed I would know where it could be used and what the secret code was. mPass, which had been working perfectly until then ceased to work. My login, which I'd had since they launched it, wouldn't let me in. In the four months of trying to sort it out I had an arrogant twerp tell me off for setting up three different logins with different card numbers (great customer service to blame the customer for your own internal stuff-ups).
They fixed it - supposedly - and I had access for a month then it stopped again. Login throws up errors that vary, sometimes incorrect name, other times incorrect password. My airpoints statement shows a whole heap of entries reversed out, effectively wiping the points I accrued. When I questioned that, I was told I was registered twice with two different accounts. Note, I had one working account that I had used for years and the only change was them linking the airpoints number to it.
Almost a year later and this is still not sorted.
So, if AirNZ can't even get their old airpoints system sorted out why would I bother adding another card registration into the mix?
