No idea. I know the Bitcoin to Credit Card website works fine for the other way around, although they only seem to have Canadian credit card numbers at the moment...

Little thread necro but since BT has gained so much media attention is anyone really taking it up? There's alot of talk about BT and Silkroad with some calling for the banning of it (How would that even work?)

Looks like mining is out the reach of us mortals not running trifire/quadfire ATI rigs

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...

Mt. Gox got hacked today and someone made a 500,000 bitcoin sell at 0.01 cleaning out the order book. It rallied back to the normal price then the exchange was closed. Mt Gox are going to reverse the transactions: https://support.mtgox.com/entries/20208066-huge-bitcoin-sell-off-due-to-a-compromised-account-rollba...

Unfortunately their account database was subsequently found to be leaked: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=19543.0

If you had a Mt Gox username with a password you reuse on other sites, you need to change those passwords. I've checked the database and can confirm it has me in it.

Yup, the spreadsheet with everyone's names, emails, and hashed passwords has me on it, as well as a few other .nz email addresses.

Considering the same hardware used by miners can also be used for hash cracking, I would change your password if:

1) You use it on any other site.
2) Is less than 10 characters.

I think mtgox will be up again 2pm today our time. But if it is, I would expect it to be flooded when that happens.

Damn. I'm listed in it too. Can't remember which of my many passwords I used though...
Gonna have to change them all now. :(

At least I never went through mtgox, after reading about several security issues with that site, it was only matter of time before something happened.

This marks the second 'hack' that concerns bitcoins in less than a week! (that guy that lost 25k btc!)

Just proves that it gaining popularity, and people need to take precautions...

Not sure if this is 100% true, however I think gmail have been proactive about this data breach and have activated the "Suspicious activity" notice at login on the gmail accounts that were in the list.
When I went to check my email this morning, I certainly got asked to change my password.

Although, that does bring up an issue. Because the database has been compromised, and apparently the passwords were stored using a weak form of hashing, isn't there potential for people to be completely locked out of their email accounts if one was to gain access to their unsalted/unhashed password?
I guess it's better than leaving the password the same though.

A small tidbit: Apparently MTGOX originally got it's name from "Magic: The Gathering Online Exchange"
For some reason, that doesn't fill me with any confidence.

BTW, where has this database been posted anyway? I can't seem to find it. Want to check that I am in fact on there.

Greece is showing what the electorate thinks of keeping currencies "hard". Since there are not nationally hard currencies any more, with all being diluted by their politicians at a rate of somewhere between 3% in the currently stable currencies and 10,000% in the case of Zimbabwe's before $100 billion notes turned into collectors' items, it seems that bitcoin is more of a hard currency that other options, other than lumps of gold and silver stashed under your house.
