I am on the Runner 500/100 plan at present and was looking at trying the Walker 100/20 plan to see if this will work okay for me, I can change it under my account, but I was wondering if anyone knew whether the change happens straight away or does it start on the next billing period? Would assume the answer to this would be the same if I decide to move back to the 500/100 plan?

Also why is it that I am unable to make any changes till my next payment is due ( falls on the first of each month). For some reason my account keeps showing "you have an unpaid invoice" from about 2 weeks before it is actually due (all invoices are paid up to date).

If you're in a Chorus area, the plan change happens after a couple of hours - you get emailed the date/time. You can change plan as much as you'd like.

Plan changes can't occur while there is an open unpaid invoice on the account. It's not preferable accounting practice to modify existing invoices, so we disable plan changes until the invoice is paid, then issue a part invoice/credit accordingly instantly after the plan change 🙂

Thank you for the reply. I don't understand why a hold has to be put on a credit card for payment at all, surely you just take your fee on the date required like any other online business? All this says to me is they want me to pay my account earlier?

Also, how is the payment handled, do they give a credit if going to the lower plan? or does this change the payment date?
Sorry, forget the second question, just reread your initial reply.

You need to pay the outstanding invoice on the account. That is what the "hold" on the credit card is for.

Then when you do the plan change a credit will apply to the account automatically.

When an outstanding invoice exists, you can't change your plan. All explained in the post above yours :)

I get that if I pay the account I can then continue with the plan change. What I don't get is why does there need to be a hold on the card account, every other online account that is paid monthly just takes the amount owed on the day set for payment and I can make a change during the period without having to pay the full amount early (Netflix, Disney, Amazon etc.)

If you have a credit card on file and setup for automatic payments, it will be charged on the due date of the invoice.

Some banks may show this charge as a hold until it's fully cleared. We don't take a hold on credit cards prior to a due date of the invoice.

Invoices are generated 2 weeks in advance of your due date. While there is an open invoice on your account, this needs to be closed off before a plan change can be completed, so that we're not modifying open invoices. A pro-rated charge or credit is immediately reflected in your account at the time the plan change is ordered.
