Could be.

But IPv6 is hard to get right. So many vendors doing different things. You can follow standards but different vendors treat standards differently. I've experienced hit and miss IPv6 with 2degrees, One NZ and Mercury.

Some examples - EdgeOS (Edgerouter / old UniFi Security Gateways) seems to be either terrible or great with IPv6 depending on provider. Mikrotik you can basically configure to work with anything and other routers like the Spark Smart Modem are hit and miss between providers.

It could be a Chorus issue but I doubt it is given people here are also using PPPoE. I know there is some new Wellington IPv6 issues with Quic right now that'll be fixed in the next maintenance window.

Yep my Edgerouter is currently not wanting to cooperate with Quic IPv6. Strangely it worked before and stopped a few days ago despite no config changes. On my todo list for this weekend to do a config reset on my Edgerouter to see if it helps.

MaxineN: But Wellington does always seem to be the problem child with v6 on the vetta network ;)

What is with people using logic and reasoning against me lately!

Emergency maintenance to fix it tonight: https://status.quic.nz/issues/698bcc0a10bdfb1b15b4dc61

So given the random assortment of IPv6 issues across people, places and providers... does that mean its a Chorus issue?

While Mercury was mentioned in the thread, I did do some checks today and can't see any change in IPv6 traffic on our network (Around 40% of traffic on our network is over v6) or reports from customers of drop offs.

If people are having issues with Mercury then happy to take examples via DM or raise tickets.

I know you're joking, but I've had a 2 month 10 day session on the Wellington BNG with zero ipv6 loss

Upgrades come slow to Ubqiuiti gear I see!

I've had 10 days all because I had to reboot my router to do a RouterOS upgrade. But have seriously not had any IPv6 issues at all (and still see the IPv6 logo).

I'm IPv5 compatible too.

Maintenance was done about 1AM. I had to restart my router, and got IPv6 back.

IPv6 ok here without any extra help. 😀

My router reported outages around 1am which line up with the planned maintenance that Quic did. I also got a couple of updates to Unifi Network and OS. Will be interesting to see if IPv6 remains more stable.

I set up some monitoring to keep an eye on my IPv6 connectivity. It dropped again this morning at 7:22am. Nothing in my Unifi logs to indicate anything happened - the router just seems to lose its IPv6 address. Nothing in the Quic status portal to indicate any issues either. I ran the command suggested above by @fearandloathing on my Unifi console: "sudo killall pppd". A few seconds later, I can see the IPv6 addresses in the Unifi console again, and connectivity restored. This makes me think it's more of a Unifi issue than a Quic issue, apart from the fact that so many others in this thread are also seeing issues.

I wonder if switching to DHCP authentication instead of PPPoE would help?
