Hi - any help with this problem would be appreciated

I have a Mythbuntu 11.10 install with a Nova-S card and HVR2200 card

Everything working mint up until today when I installed some kernel updates.

After the reboot, my HVR2200 card/s (two tuners) weren't recognised.

So I went through the HVR2200 install process from scratch (firmware etc), and rebooted.

Now, if I go into the backend setup and look at capture cards, for each it is showing the /dev/dvb/adapter0/1/2 but below it says: Frontend ID: Could not get card info... Subtype: Unknown.

I can use the cards OK - I can watch TV from them, but if I go into channel editor, the only source/adapter I can scan is my DVB-S card.

I can't select the DVB-T source to scan for new channels on the DVB-T cards

Can anyone help?

I'm happy to post log outputs, just not sure what - let me know if that will be useful

Hi Phil

Are you sure the cards are getting the firmware correctly, otherwise they won't be detected.

You should be seeing something like this

You can then try to manually scan the DVB-T tuners using a tool like w_scan or if you know the frequencies scan/dvbscan

For example for Waiatarua save the following file as Waiatarua.freq

Then run the following replacing $CARD with your card number

scan -a $CARD -u -5 -o pids Waiatarua.freq

Also try popping onto the local MythTV mailing list.

Ok the firmware has loaded so any luck running a manual scan?

It's an email list - you have to email the group members (mythtvnz@lists.linuxnut.co.nz). Tips: use plain text format and 'bottom post' i.e. your new email message gets typed below the previous ones when you reply.

Your dmesg output and logs seem to indicate the card is being picked up correctly by the kernel and that firmware is loading. I would expect the HVR-2200 and 11.04 Ubuntu to work properly together. Will be interesting to see what's gone wrong - and you're more likely to get the answer faster over at Gossamer (no disrespect to the more general forum here, guys!).

Thanks for the tips.

I haven't done the scan, but TV watching is working fine on all (DVB-T) channels, that's the really weird thing!

The only disadvantage to current situation is not being able to scan for new channels (ie. Choice TV).

As it's not even live yet, I've resigned myself to waiting until Mythbuntu 12.04 arrives with Myth 0.25, and I'll do a fresh install.

In the mean time if anyone has any other easy things to try, I'd still be happy to get it working now...
