Hello All!

I've been asked by a friend to set up DVB-S freeview on his Windows 7 Media Center for him.
I was wanting some input from people doing this already as to the best way to configure the guide.
In practice does the inband EIT data work during typical usage or do people find it dries up if channels are not watched often enough? I would prefer not to have to configure EPG Collector if I can avoid it.
I assume they will watch 1,2,3 and prime at least once a week

Cheers

It's pretty simple with 7MC. You plug in the card, do a satellite scan in WMC on Optus D1 12456 and 12483 (22500 Hpol) and the channels and inband epg data will appear in the guide. The guide data will start to "dry up" if you don't watch any of the channels on a certain transponder for a while, so I'd recommend running epg collector on a daily scheduled task to import the epg which will ensure it is always present. There's a good guide in the stickies of this subforum about setting that up if you haven't done so on another machine.

EDIT:

You can also set WMC to record a program every night (one on each transponder) which will populate the guide in the process. Set it to overwrite the same program every time it does so, or if you are a bit more creative you can set a batch file to delete it directly after it records so you don't have some unwanted program hanging around. If you can find a program you do want to record every night (one on each transponder) then even better.
