Just wondering, do they show the normal imax stuff or just the hollywood garbage blown up?

Last time I saw an Imax doco was in the 90s (in the US). But then, The Dark Knight Rises looks amazing on Imax! More immersive than any 3D movie IMO

It's not really an IMAX theatre. It used to be, but it turned out not to be financially viable. Now they use the screen to show movies at jumbo size using a more conventional projector.

The Dark Knight Rises is being shown in IMAX format (well, 72 minutes of it at least).

Yeah I saw an earlier Batman on the Imax screen in Auckland and they did that, ~ switched aspect ratios for the Imax filmed sections. It was very cool on the big screen.

I believe the Bluray does something similar, swaps from 2.35 ish to 1.78 for those sections.

That was the case sseveral years ago. I believe that the imax features remained, and they still use them for imax movies. Apparently when there's nothing going, imax is just used as a megascreen which I believe is just 35mm blown up. Pity, becuase they could be showing really good imax documentaries.

According to IMAX and Wikipedia, they have a 15/70mm/3D film projector.
