Does anybody know what to do when your veon blue ray player says unknown disk and will not play. Not really into technology, so hope there is a simple solution.

Does it do that with all discs - Bluray and DVD ?
If it does, could be a dirty or faulty laser.... since that brand is fairly new to NZ, might still be under warranty and you could get it checked via that.

Try plugging into your network and do a firmware check from the player.

Internet is my backyard...

Do Veon's offer regular firmware updates? Often the cheaper brands do not allow for ease of use with newer discs / copy protection found on the latest movies...

Try some different disks, DVD and blu-ray. If you get the fault from just one disk then the disk will be the problem. Blu-ray can be a bit fussy. If it doesn't play anything and is under warranty take it back to the shop for a replacement.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

It will be faulty. A friend got one when it was $75 and has now been thru 2 replacements for not reading disk issues.
