Hello geeks! Please help! Please please does anyone know if there is a tv card availble based on the bt8*8 chipset that is availble in a low profile pci design or with a low proile adaptor. I've tried everywhere and this is my last resort! thanks!

Have a look at the low profile Hauppauge PVR150MCE.

However I am not sure that one has the bt878 chipset.

No it doesn't since this is a hardware MPEG2 card. But in terms of video capture, it's much better than any of the BT878 cards which do no compression and you need a grunty PC and fast drive and good software to be able to capture and compress using those cards.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

I find that the bt878 I use for capture gives much better results then the pvr250 that I tried for a while. No matter what I did with the quality on the pvr card there was some blocking going on, whereas the bt878 not having obsolete compression onboard left it all up to the pc to do, 2 pass xvid compression on the raw file and it looked immensly better then what came out of the card on its best setting at about 1/6th the size.

Audio sync is a whole nother issue however, but that was solved by not using the onboard sound which seemed to have major drift with its samplerate.

thanks for the replies. I've got a grunty pc , quite capable of running a card with a bt878 chip , it's just a very new pc and can only take low-profile pci cards - surely there must be one availble or a standard size one with an adaptor?
help needed!
