Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if there is any solution:

I 'book' a programme but instead of changing the channel to what I selected, it goes to Channel 0 instead.
Last week I booked the same programme each day (Mon - Fri) on Sky 1 but only once did it change to Sky 1. Four times it went to Channel 0.

This is a feature I want to use a lot, but currently it's next to useless because I can't rely on it at all.

Has anyone heard of this before?

Thanks,
CM.

I don't mean MySky, just regular Sky satelite. I'm talking about the 'book a programme' function, where you go into Guide, select the show by pushing the oval button (in between the arrow buttons), and then it says 'if you want to book this programme push [the oval button] again'. So you do that and it takes you to your 'booked' programmes list. They have ticks next to them. (If you push that same oval button the tick turns to a cross, which means you've removed them from the list. I make sure they are all ticks).
I then set my Sony 910 dvd recorder to record the 'booked' shows each day. But when I check the recordings, it's mostly Channel 0 (the Sky preview channel). The recording aspect isn't relevant. Even when just watching it turn over, it does the same thing.

When did you last unplug the decoder from the power supply? Unplug it, wait a couple of minutes then plug it back in to make it reboot.

Try that and if it still has the same problem go to the Sky website and report it to them.

I had a similar problem last Thursday where I booked a movie on 21.  The usual notification came up to advise that it will start in 3 minutes but when it was time the channel changed to the weather and sound on all channels was lost.  I ended up having to unplug the power from the back to reboot the decoder back to normal.  Haven't had any problems with it since.

That's what I used to do before I got MySky. Usually worked, but once in a while there was no sound. For those not familiar with it, booking on Sky Digital just means it changes channel automatically at the right time. Handy for recording.

Just before I got MySky I noticed it sometimes changed to the right channel but then changed back immediately. Don't recall what the fix was, if any. I presume you have tried a hard reset (unplugging the power for 30 seconds)? Channel 0 is mosaic? Or previews?

Have you been doing this long, and has it been working ok?

Do you have any other remotes around that might be changing the channel to 0? They don't usually interfere, though. My vcr has an IR blaster, which means it could change sky digital channels itself. If you have some such device, it may be the culprit. Or maybe a combo remote... If that was the problem, it would happen sometimes while watching it too. Assuming you ever watch it live. I never did.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. To be honest I haven't done the 'turn it all off' thing. I'll try that.

the "booked program" feature is a feature of the decoder and not a "SERVICE" that sky provide... nor does it imply that you pay for that service
...your Subscription is purely for the Channels you receive ...alot of people think that the booked program feature is something that has been rectified ..which currently there is no work-around...
the only decoder so far that i know that doesnt revert to 0 or weather channel is the Motorola 5516
hope this helps guys

Thanks. I called Sky and they said they knew about the problem and hadn't figured it out yet. They didn't mention it was an issue with the decoder.

They should not be advertising the service (and including instructions about it) if it doesn't work. That is clearly false advertising.

There is no "Advertisment" nor any mention that we provide "Instructions" about the Booked program feature.....
Sky Don't provide information about the Features of the Legacy's decoders.... besides the basics......changing the channel, volume, etc...
Hopefully with one of the software updates ..we will be able to resolve the issue
for the most of it you can blame NDS for their crap software....LOL
