Am looking at getting this model TV, currently on sale at DSE for $1399.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has this TV or similar and in particular their experience of the built in Media Player, that is, if it has a Media Player in it at all? It's purports to be a smart TV with Panasonics Vierra Connect and Skype capabilities but nowhere can I find a specific mention of a Media Player, but it seems unlikely to me that a TV that has internet connectivity and is able to handle skype would not have one, hopefully someone can enlighten me? I am specificly intersted in things like file format and codec compatibility, DNLA compliance and ease of use.

Yes they have a media player that also supports DLNA. My previous flatmate had one in the lounge, it was a good TV and the media player handled everything i chucked at it, including 1080p MKV's. Mp4's, xvid etc were all no problem.
The dlna worked however i only used it once from my S3 and it was stuttery, not sure what the issue was as i didn't investigate it any further.

I have an ST50 plasma (same range, diff guts) and yes. VieraTools contain media player

I combine it with XMBC on the PC to share via uPNP/DLNA with less hassle than the likes of servio etc trying to transcode everything when the tv does it native.
