I recently purchased a new Marantz SR5007 Amp for a 2nd home in the mountains. I thought I would have a land line (phone and/or cable) however that wasn't possible without getting a 3rd mortgage! So I have Direct TV (which is great when it's not storming) and use a mobile 4G hotspot for my internet connection. The Marantz is great for Surround Sound movies, and it plays music when I hook up my iPod or iPhone through the USB port.

The Marantz SR5007 has some great features that I had hoped to use, including Bluetooth linking to my iPhone, and iPhone app that controls it, as well as other features such as direct hookup to Pandora and other streaming services. I've looked through all the manuals and it appears that it must have a hardwired internet connection for these features to work.

Question 1: Is it possible to hook up the Marantz SR5007 to the internet wirelessly so I can take advantage of the internet streaming features?

Question 2: I cannot get the TV/Audio to play in Zone 2. Is this possible?

Thanks for any help you can offer. I feel like a bought a Ferrari but someone put a 55 mph governor on it.

For 1, Get a wireless bridge:

That is the cheapest I could find. edit: and I bought one and it works.

You set it up to connect to your wifi network (setup as a client), then plug the network cable into it - device gets network connectivity.

Win!

Thanks. So will this device provide a wired link to the Marantz, while pulling the signal from my wireless card? I can't tell from the photo how it will hook up to the Marantz.

Zone 2 will only play analog inputs (so no HDMI source). This is pretty much standard for all amps, not just Marantz ones.

So you have two options: connect audio using RCA cables, or use the A/B configuration unless you want 2 zones playing different sources at once.

Use a normal ethernet network cable to connect between the two devices. You should have one lying around the house or at work somewhere (you get one free with a new adsl broadband modem).

And if you weren't aware, connecting to your phone via BlueTooth will require another adapter again... but it will be audio only, not App. control.
The Marantz App. (and indeed all apps for home theatre receivers) will require your home theatre receiver to be connected to your network via ethernet cable or wifi... not BlueTooth.
My personal opinion is... BlueTooth is a last resort way to get audio into a sound system, but it is convenient.

So can I connect audio from my iPhone to the Marantz without a network connection using Bluetooth? Or is there another connection I need to add to the Marantz?

You'd need a Bluetooth adaptor, either from Marantz or a 3rd party.
