Hi there guys

I got my RTL832u stick in the post, about 2 weeks ago, and it's amazing what I can recieve in my area with a small antenna.

I've already figured out how to decode pagers, and it's fascinating to watch all the text come up on the screen.

Round about 152mhz, I hear this strange tone. I know it's data of some sort, but I'm not sure what kind.

I've taken a 7 second sample of what I'm hearing, hopefully somebody here will know.
Here's the link.

Would somebody who knows what it is please let me know?

Thanks

One good place to check would be http://www.rsm.govt.nz/smart-web/smart/page/-smart/domain/licence/SelectLicencePage.wdk

To my untrained ear, it sounds like a beacon of some kind..

I did what you suggested. It's licensed to Vector.

Question is, what would they be using it for??

My guess would be data being sent to/from a remote monitoring site? Or perhaps SCADA.

There are literally hundreds of frequencies used for radio telemetry. This is nothing unique.

No-one suggested it was unique - the OP was simply intrigued to know what it is.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

What's the exact frequency? Can you post a picture of the waveform?
