I'm trying to get an AV sender and receiver to work between a MySky box and a TV. The sender is plugged in the VCR SCART at the back of MySky and the receiver is plugged in the Composite RCA's of the TV. I'm not getting anything, I've tried all the available channels and It won't even pick up white noise. I've also tried to connect the sender to the video out RCA on the back of MySky but it has made no difference. Any suggestions?

Ok... I think the signal is encrypted. Not sure if this is on purpouse but the signal arrives encrypted to the receiver. Can anyone confirm that or is it just me?

MySky analog output is certainly NOT encrypted. A lot of TVs will simply produce a blue screen if no input is evident on AV input or RF channel. Some TVs have a menu item to turn this blue screen off.

When you mention available channels, are you talking about the dip switch channel selection on the AV unit or TV channels. The TV (to which the AV receiver is connected) should obviously be set to the appropriate AV input and NOT a spare RF channel.

I tried to do that and there was no change but I think I can only change the signal type of the TV SCART.

Maybe I need to buy a 5.8 AV Sender? (I do have a wireless LAN)

It looks quite noise free other then the messed up sync signals making it roll etc, so I doubt its interference, but it could be a microwave oven since they put out a 50Hz modulated 2.4GHz carrier, which would cause a single bar across it like that.

in the rolling picture there is no evidence of macrovision being present, which shows as some really bright white/black alternating stripes.

try another source into it, thats not encryption, just something weird happening with the syncs. Does the tv work properly directly off the sky box?

Yeah it does. I've tried to turn off my WLAN and there was no difference.

So I moved the received to another TV

and this is what I get

Looks like possibly you are outputting in svideo via the scart output.
Check under the settings that it's set to composite.

Ok.. Odd... check the obvious, is the scart cable seated properly in the socket on the Sky box?
Do you have another scart cable you can try?

I'd say your probably right. I tried a few pairs before giving up on them, something about this place just eats RF up, but I never saw anything like what you saw on the first tv. Wifi makes white horizontal lines and clicking sounds, more frequent when transferring until its constant if I am copying a file, and the microwave makes it buzz and have 2 giant bands of static across it.

If it was svideo or component then it wouldn't work at all on the first tv, the second one just has a more picky color decoder so isnt locking onto it. and I think that all the sky boxes output composite as well when selected to component, its only svideo where you will end up with a crystal clear but black and white picture.

Do you have another scart cable you can try?

Yeah I tried with other SCART cables and I also tried to connect my digital camera with a video output cable to the sender and I'm getting exactly the same thing.

As richms says, it's probably the av sender that's faulty... especially so if you plugged a different device in and it's doing the same thing. I hope it's a new AV sender :) If it is, take it back and ask for a replacement.
