Am looking at upgrading from VCR to DVR with HDD . Is there a DVR out there that can tune into DVB-T NZ.
Have seen a Philips DVDR9000h/75 with DVB-T. Have found out tuner will not work here only in UK.
Other than that looks a good Set.

With Freeview I think I read some were that DVB-S will be max at 720p & DVD-T will be max 1080p
Is this correct

There are no DVB-T receivers available in NZ at present that will support the DVB-T MPEG4 transmissions that will be used in NZ. All existing DVB-T rollouts have used MPEG2 - currently most countries who have rolled out DVB-T are testing MPEG4 with broadcasts available in London and in most areas of France. I still think it could be another year or so before there are STB's, TV's and DVD recorders available that will support both formats.

DVB-S is only standard 576i, I haven't heard anything definite in regards to DVB-T but suspect we'll see primarily 720P and the odd 1080i transmissions which is essentially what's being broadcast in Australia. It's still 11 months away however so anything could happen in that time.

HD won't be mainstream from NZ Stations for a long time yet, so it wouldn't mater if you had 720p or 1080i STB's I would have thought.
