Hi all.
Took the plunge in the weekend and entered the rarified air of the Smart TV...

To be honest, being a Smart TV wasn't a clincher - it was the picture quality and the size for the price, but as it was also a smart 3D TV, it was just a bonus.

Model: W800B 42"

What I'd like to know is this: Do any of the apps or the internet content make it worthwhile using these features?

I have an Apple TV hooked in and find that easy to use, so is the "Smart" feature set worthwhile exploring?

Well, at the moment, I'm having a go at using our Sony TV's Netflix app, via Unotelly, for Netflix US. Also have a WDTV Live plugged in to said TV, also with Netflix on pointed to the UK version using Unotelly Dynamo. Therefore don't have to swap Netflix regions on the TV via my PC if I want to change Netflix regions. Am sure someone will point out a much better way to do this. Anyway, if you swap your AppleTV for my WDTV I presume you could do the same, if you feel the urge.

I love my Sony TV (R55-60) but I never use any of the apps. Well, very occasionally the Pandora app, anything else feels like some sort of punishment.

I use the Netflix and Youtube app on mine.

I am about 25m away from the router and it works great through our wireless.

So it seems that there's not a lot of use for the "smart" features at all, if I have an Apple TV...

Kind of expected that.

One thing I have noticed and quite like, is the app for my iPhone that allows me to use the phone as a remote and also a trackpad/keyboard.
