I know frick all when it comes to audio side of things, so this may seem like a "duh" question to some of you....

Setup is PS3 and XboxOne connected to a set of Logitech Z506 speakers.

Will buying something like this make any difference to the sound at all ?

Yes/no answers are fine for my needs :-p

I do want to get a proper amp and speakers but the way this year has started, it'll be quite some time away...

TIA

You will need a 5.1 channel decoder, not just a stereo DAC.

2 optical inputs too so you are sorted for the 2 consoles.

Then take 3 3.5mm outputs from that to the 5.1 input on the logitech speakers.

That will get you actual surround when you set the console to output dolby digital

That is the first one I found on there, there may be cheaper ones so you can look for cheaper.

I doubt you will notice any difference at all.

Your speakers I are the weakest link in your current chain.
