I use a mini-pc for streaming and HT purposes. I control it with a wireless keyboard/mouse. The display is fine for viewing in full screen but a hassle when I have to navigate with the browser. I get around this by using the magnifier function but it is still a pain.

I have a useless generic Android tablet that cannot be upgraded from 4.1.1. It has a beautiful little display. I am struggling to work out a good way of echoing the display from the Windows 8.1 pc to the Android tablet. I have tried a solution via wi-fi but it didn’t work very well. Or I could run an HDMI cable from a splitter to the viewing position but of course there is no way to input it.

Does anyone have a good solution for this? Controlling the PC from the tablet doesn’t work well. That would be the ideal solution but in my experience it is far too difficult and unreliable to use. If I could find a way to just get the display onto the tablet, I could continue to control it from the wireless keyboard. Not the most elegant solution, but better than what I have now.

Is there any magical device that can take HDMI (or DVI, I don’t need audio) and input it to Android via the USB port? Is there any other answer? Mini-monitors seem to be hard to come by.

I'm not aware of any HDMI solution. If you could get some kind of analog output, mini monitors are however cheap and plentiful

You could try on the VNC variants for network mirroring (I had some success with this and a Nexus tablet), and Chrome Remote Desktop works okay.
