Such nice TVs too.

My next set... Hopefully by the time I'm allowed to buy one, the technology will be more mature (read. cheaper).

Wow that's a great price. They're without a doubt the best TV around right now and the only good replacement for the Panasonic VT Plasmas'. It's a shame they're still on the expensive side. :(

I still have the big cardboard box from my 50" Panasonic VT plasma against the garage wall.

It is handy when parking the car - safe to nudge - unlike the wall.

It still has the RRP price sticker of something like $5k (I paid $3k) back in... um .... ages ago. So the above prices are not 'too' bad for OLED.

The LG OLEDs have a stunning picture - the contrast is amazing.

Definitely the only TV I would regard as an improvement over plasma. Just hope my current TV has a bit more life in it and the OLEDs drop a bit more.

Curiously, LG seems to be the only manufacturer actively using OLED for TVs as far as I know.

Hisense have made a huge investment in OLED and were really pushing their OLED TV's. I saw quite a few vendors at CES this year with OLED's, but it was really LG and Hisense pushing them.

It really does surprise me that Hisense haven't entered the NZ market yet, they seem to have gained reasonable market share in Aussie and are certainly a big player in the TV space now.

Hadn't heard of Hisense - but googling them they appear to be a pretty big manufacturer.

They appear to be pushing ULED as an alternative to OLED.

ULED looks like a vastly improved LED system - but is drawing favourable comparisons to the LG OLEDs in picture quality  - but have much better pricing.

Hope they come to the NZ market soon.

There are also off-brands using OLED, but they are LG panels (older generation).

LG and Samsung both started developing OLEDs years ago (and they use small ones in phone screens). The failure rates on early OLED TVs was huge (I think over 80%), and I think Samsung pulled the pin. LG kept going (and it must have cost a fortune) and are now reaping the rewards. To look at, they are streets ahead of anything LED. A match to (if not better than) the best Panny Plasmas, and so light and thin.

The OLED's listed at Noel Leeming appear to be lower spec models compared to those at Harvey Norman (B series, not E series).

Smith's City's selection is the same as Noel's, so they're off the money.

LG have said all models have same picture quality. If you don't want a curved screen or 3D then the B is your best choice. The C has curved screen and 3D. The other more expensive ones have a top quality soundbar.

I have bought the 65B6T and i can tell you the picture is unbelievable. Betters my plasma on all counts.
