Ok, so the Foxtel iQ box they have in Aussie is exactly the same as MySky, right?

They are rolling out the iQ2 this year (http://hd.foxtel.com.au/hd-on-foxtel/iq2.php)

So is this what MySky will look like? Anyone have info on pricing for exesitng MySky customers to switch to MySky 2? Last I heard the release date was June 2008.

Yes its the exact same box that Foxtel, SkyNZ and SkyItalia have been working together on. What features each NewsCorp sibling will enable in the firmware is unknown as is any pricing detail at this time. It will however be called the MySky HDi. Beyond that there has been no other detail from Sky.

I love the idea of remote record, being able to setup a recording from your web browser or mobile. Handy when you have to work late and forgot to set something up!

Foxtel are doing remote record in Aussie with the Mysky equavalent now. It is a shame we can't do it here. Cyril seemed to think it was a back office issue.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Works just fine with my Dreambox, plus I can with a PC at home re-encode TV to DIVX and stream over the internet.

Any further updates on MySky2? I'm watching 3 News on regular Sky Digital on my new Pioneer HD Plasma, and it's pretty disappointing compared to the Blu-ray discs I've watched so far.

Come on, Sky!

Given TV3 will still be standard definition on Sky Digital even after their upgrade to MySky2 I don't think things will change. Excluding the FTA channels on Sky's platform most of their own channels have picture quality so poor that I refuse to watch. Sky is fit for nothing larger than a 25" CRT.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

You will get much better quality on Freeviews Satellite TV3 rather than Sky's retransmission of it.. and outstanding HD quality on DTT.  With Freeview coming out, I think MySky HD will be a hard sell to anyone apart from sports fanatics... as it won't offer any other improvements.

Oh, the injustice!! Foxtel are getting BBC HD! No Fair!

Anyone know whether there are any plans to add this to Sky's lineup here in NZ?

I would rather see Dicovery and National Geo HD than BBC HD as you won't see the current entertainment programs like Torchwood  and the like who will no doubt be tied up by TVNZ.  You will only see old stuff or stuff that no one else wants..

While I don't particularly have any brand loyalty to Sky, I do like some of the channels they have, some of which have HD content in other territories, e.g. The Universe on History Channel was broadcast in the US in HD.

It would be nice to know what their plans/roll-out dates are, so I can decide to get a freeview box in the immediate to mid-term.

Has anyone seen the HD content on FreeView? Good?

Well the ad I saw on History Channel on Monday for Sky HD defintely indicated that an HD Sky Sports channel is coming 'soon'.

I've been watching Sky this evening and finally seen the ads for MySky2... very light on details... no details at all. Damn you, teaser ads!
