HDMI dot ORG announces 2.1 specification

Of importance, 48Gbps bandwidth.A few cables might self combust at this news.

Need this like a hole in the head.

You can just imagine the issues... especially as the people who design this spec seem to believe the cable runs will never exceed the length of the desk they sit at.

Wonderful. Have to go thru the absurdity of "there are no HDMI 2.0 cables" again with 2.1, and a crapload of cables that are "high speed" but do not work.

Fragile BS cheap electrical interconnects that barely work at the best of time and drop out briefly at the first sign of electrical noise and need third party hardware often more expensive than the source equipment just to get it to travel the length of a room.

And the big question with any revision to the HDMI spec - how obnoxious are any changes to the DRM, and what does this mean for backwards compatibility with existing kit?
