I'm sorry for another thread, I have looked at others but have become a bit unstuck (pretty standard for me).

So my W10 died on me, so had to reinstall, now have MP2 etc

After many attempts I can now run epg collector successfully, but I cant get the tv guide into MP2. Ive tried to import it under plugins, XMLTV, folder where xml file is stored (c:epg), but nothing happens when I click import.

Is there something else I need to do?

Thanks

I'm still running MediaPortal version 1 so I don't know how different the tv server configuration menus are but if the options are there you can try doing this:

In the XmlTv tab in Plugins click the "Mappings" tab.
Then click the "Load/Refresh" button.
A list of all the channels should show up and in the "Guide channel" column the channel name should be the same as the "Tuning channel".
If they are different then use the drop down menu for each to correct. Once all the channels are the same click the "Save" button.
Then go back to the "General" tab in the "XmlTv" tab and check the tickbox if it already isn't that says "Import new tvguide.xml" and also the one that says "Delete old programs before import"
Try to import now.
Also make sure your tvguide.xml actually has data in it by opening in the internet explorer.
On average a full weeks worth of epg data is about 2.5 megabytes for me. If it is only a few kilobytes it may not contain any data.
The spelling of the tvguide.xml should be EXACTLY that. For some reason for me it also works with a few capital letters so mine is "TVGuide.xml". You could give this a try.
Also when importing it says it may take some time. For me it takes a few minutes for a full import. While it is importing the whole TV Server Configuration freezes for me but this is how I know to keep waiting. You should at least try and give it 5-10 minutes for troubleshooting sake after clicking the import button.
When an import is done for me under the "Import status" section it says "tvguide.xml:File imported successfully".
Also please make sure you have tuned all the channels in the "TV Servers" tab and they are all mapped to your tuner in the "TV Mappings" tab which is found in the "TV Channels" tab.

Did you load the plugin then map the channels? Its exactly the same as MP1 on the TV server side of things as far as setup is concerned.

But speaking from experience I wouldnt really reocmmend MP2 at this stage.  While its quite stable it was weird quirks and is rather incomplete still.  I have been running it for the last month or two and will be switching back to MP1 in the forseeable future just for reliability sake.   The lack of plugins is a big issue if you want to do anything past the normal watch tv etc.  The music side of it crashes the database if you have any reasonable amount of music - it will scan around 15% of my collection then everything stops, have to reboot, remove the music share from within it and it'll go back to normal.

I also found I was having issues switching between channels on the same mux, a reinstall etc didnt make any difference.  Only work around is switch to a different mux then back again.

Thanks for the replies, managed to get it working. Must have been the mapping part.
Also got my bat file working as well, so pretty happy.

Just need to find something decent to watch on TV...... Haha

Thanks again, much appreciated

One word of advice for the epg for mp2 is make sure your updating the guide when your not going to be watching TV - I initially had mine set to 6PM and found when it updates it would clear out the current listings that were on leaving big blank spaces.  Now I think I do it at like 2am.

hmm for some reason it didnt load my reply from my phone.

I never did get the bat file to run automatically so I just have a shortcut and run it when the tv guide needs refreshing.

I might try it again tho, thanks for the tip
