Hi, a work mate has given me a Sanyo video cassette recorder, VHR-VT221A. I don't know how old it is, but I do have the instruction manual and it seems to work well. He's asking $50 for it, but that seems way too much to me? Or perhaps there's something about this model that I don't know? I was thinking more along the lines of $15. Any thoughts much appreciated! Many thanks.

Brand new 6 head stereo VCRs can be had for about $99.

If I needed a VCR, I would not consider paying more than $25 for one. Remember how expensive they are to fix (i.e. Beyond economical these days) if the heads go funny.

Just checked, and this one you have is only a 2 head. You are dead right, its not worth more than $15 IMO.

What do you need it for? Just some transfers? Does it have to look good? This one is $8 no remote.

Thanks very much for your help, Tony - this has sorted out the problem and we've now paid a reasonable price. Cheers!
