Hi

Just got a new projector that accepts a RGB component video input and I'm hoping that my DSR600 sky decoder outputs the same; but having searched similar topics in this forum I'm still unclear as to whether the decoder does have a component output. Can anyone confirm if it does and if not, is it possible to upgrade my Sky box to a later model that has a component video output?

Most Sky decoders can. You will need a SCART -> Component adapter. Go into the Setup Menu and Tell it component or composite output first to check if you have the option.

DSR600 supports composite, svideo and rgb but NOT YPbPr component. Use SCART to component cable for either rgb or YPbPr.

OK, thanks for the replies. I didn't know there were different forms of component video and I'm assuming I cannot use the DSR600's rgb signal into my projectors YPbPr input - is this correct? If so, then has anyone out there tried using the S-video output into a projector and gotten good results?

S-Video is a good step up and bypasses many limitations that a PJ will show up. Sky will charge you a fee for upgrading to a STB that support YCrCb component. All Sky STBs support RGB component, similar but differnt and not compatible.

Either way you are going to have to buy cables, and maybe a box upgrade, for a large screen (ie PJ) there is a distince improvement going to component as most PJs have lousy (read token) PAL decoders (used for both composite and S-vid).
